gearbox oil

My technique however (drain as normal use an Audi square drive tool bought from any motor factors) was to warm the oil up to room temp ie keep it in the house, rear wheel off ,nearside on a 915 and add a length of garden hose pipe to a funnel, length about 1 meter. one person holds hose in gearbox while second person pours oil in funnel. the advantage of having a second person is that he/she can can hold the funnel up high which aids flow of oil. I would measure the quantity of oil first and then stop short and check levels. Level is correct when oil begins to drible from filler hole.I assume a G50 box is the same.
I would like to know if anyone recomends a different oil?

Mine was always a bit notchy going from second back to 1st. The oil change fixed it after driving for 100 miles or so. Absolutely night and day.
I think gearbox oil get easily overlooked and is a definite worth while thing to do. I also changed the output flange seals at the same time as the originals were beginning to seep sightly.
.............. One thing to make sure of first before doing this....make sure you can undo fill plug before draining the gearbox oil. Mine was very tight. You would not want to drain out all the oil only to find you can't undo fill plug to top it back up!!! Otherwise your in for an expensive bill to get car towed or transported to indie for assistance!
