My Indy have put a LSD in my C2 today, part of this installation is a change to Castrol Syntrax 75w 140 synth oil. No real comments on the LSD for the moment but the change in oil has bought a real improvement in shift quality, it has really surprised me. I thought it was fine before, certainly when warm but it is now super quick and really smooth, even in 1st/2nd that occasional notchy feel has all but gone. As a cheap improvement I would give it top marks!

Rob, make of LSD? Used or new? Reasonably priced? Cheers Steve

I changed my gearbox oil to swepco. Supplied by type911 if I remember correctly. What a difference it made on my c2 as well!. Mine was always a bit notchy going from second back to 1st. The oil change fixed it after driving for 100 miles or so. Absolutely night and day. I think gearbox oil get easily overlooked and is a definite worth while thing to do. I also changed the output flange seals at the same time as the originals were beginning to seep sightly. .............. One thing to make sure of first before doing this....make sure you can undo fill plug before draining the gearbox oil. Mine was very tight. You would not want to drain out all the oil only to find you can't undo fill plug to top it back up!!! Otherwise your in for an expensive bill to get car towed or transported to indie for assistance! Tim
Hi Steve, its a ZF 40% LSD, same as option 220 on the C2, different from the 20/100 unit in the RS. Bought it second hand but with fresh internals from a smashing guy over in Holland, worked out just over 1k fitted. Next time we meet you are welcome to give it a try, the box is night and day different with this new oil.

If we're on the subject of smooth gear changes then I can vouch for Swepco 201 as had that in the previous C4 - as well as the RS clutch/flywheel. However, now have another C4 with all best bits swapped over, but absolutely for sure, I wouldn't have believed it would make such a monumental difference - RS engine mounts. Easily the best thing I've ever spent money on that has changed the car. Should have done this years ago in the other C4. The shift from one gear (any gear too) to another feels so easy without that previous need to 'feel' your way up or down the gears. My number one recommendation for a significant change for reasonable money - @£116 each(?)..
