Gearbox whine

Do you guys get a fair amount of whine from the transmission?

Mine has always done it, right since new. It is most noticeable in 1st 2nd on a trailing throttle or when driven slowly.
It doesn't sound like a problem, just more like a racing car than road cars normally do.
I also read that the X50 option is supposed to include some mod to the gearbox too. I might try to find out what at some stage.

I hadn't really thought about it - except I have been spending some time with GTR on the PC, and the cars there really whine.

I have no whine from my transmission, only had the rattle from the front diff when new, but even that has stopped[&:]

This is an old posting.
The update since you brought it up, is that the whine is either the same (i.e. not getting worse) or slightly less noticeable (although I may be just used to it).
It is most noticeable when using full throttle and accelerating hard.

I do not think it is anything to worry about.
Thinking back, I do not remember the demo car or the PCGB experience car showing it, but they were not X50 cars.

Stuart.
Mine is an X50 and has always had a slight whine, especially when flooring it.
I like it - it seems to fit with the nature of the car.

The whine I get is when in third gear coming down in speed to around 22 mph. The whine goes if I depress the clutch and engage again. Had it check by OPC and they say all is okay.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

I get a squealing sound sometimes when I brake that remains even when I lift off the brakes, and does not go till the clutch is depressed.
It is only when braking, and can only be heard at low speeds. It is not that loud.

I do not know what it is, but it has done it for ages.
I presume it is some something to do with either the ABS, the EBD or the PSM. It is some thing electrical I am sure. Everything works, so I don't worry about it.
