have changed my gearstick and gaitor as both were worn and sloppy but when i popped the insert out i chipped it on the edge :( does anyone know where you can get the oem black ones or one with a porsche crest on? have seen the ones on design911 and porscheshop but dont like the silver as nothing else is silver in the cabin and think they are rediculously overpriced.
thanks guys

Have you tried Porsche mate???? They can surprise you for small bits like that. Just got a turbo thermostat housing from them for around £3.40. By far the cheapest price.

dont suppose anyone has a part number for this and/or a number to call? or how to find them. Will porsche still have such an older part in stock?

I changed a gearknob leather for a friend a while back and chipped the insert as you describe.

You can make it look perfectly acceptable (i.e. you'd not know there was anything wrong) by rubbing the lip on the edge of the insert off all the way 'round with some sandpaper, finishing off with some fine wet and dry, done wet.

Oli.

The insert isnt available on its own from Porsche

It is listed AM here;
