gen 1 issues with the heater/ac unit

don't know if anyone has experienced this. no matter what temperature setting the unit is set to, the car pumps out very hot air. feels like driving round in an easy bake oven.

Only way to drive then car just now is with the windows down........

can anyone suggest what might be wrong

I've had a gen 1 997 for about 6 months now, and only recently clicked that if the heater is set to "windscreen" (ie the button top left, to the right of the passenger heated seat button) it blows hot air out regardless of what temperature setting you have it on. If you deselect the windscreen setting, the heater should blow out air at the temperature you have set. If it doesn't you may have a fault on the sensor.
