Option, the std lights on the Gen2 are Xenon but at a lower power than the Gen1 so no headlamp washers the dynamic lights are higher powered with the washers and are a good to have option[;)]

Could anybody please tell me if Bi-xenon with dynamic cornering was an option or standard fit on Gen 2 Cayman

The xenon headlights on my 987.2 were an option and had washers and as far I know are the same rating as those with dynamic cornering xenons. On the 981 the standard xenons do not have washers but I read on PH, I think, that Porsche has confirmed they are the same lumen output as the optional xenons with dynamic cornering and washers.

If memory serves me correctly, when I ordered my Cayman (MY2010) the only Bi-xenon headlight option included dynamic cornering lights with headlamp washers. The standard fitment was halogen lamps. The dynamic cornering lights are an excellent option, and worth having if you can get them. Jeff

The bi xenons on 981 optional dynamic light are NOT the same lumin as the standard xenons - offhand I believe standard are 24 and PDLS are 35 very noticeably brighter

This is the quote on the PH thread dated Nov 12 that I referred to: THE ANSWER Porsche Technical - 'there is no difference in the intensity of light from either unit' Therefore, the headlamp washer must purely be an additional benefit of the upgraged unit rather than law due to an increase in brightness (over 2000 lumins).

Or direct from the Porsche Website:- Lights A design is either fascinating or functional. The front and rear lights of the new Cayman models can be both. Clear glass halogen headlights are fitted on the Cayman as standard. The Cayman S is equipped as standard with Bi-Xenon headlights. In classic Cayman fashion, the circular front light units with LED daytime running lights and position lights are integrated in the air intakes. LEDs provide powerful illumination, respond extremely rapidly to driver input and offer improved energy performance combined with a longer service life. The taillights also employ LED technology for increased safety and an unmistakable appearance – day and night. Bi-Xenon headlights including Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) To explore your own direction, you need to be alert – especially at night. The optional Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS), which comprises Bi-Xenon main headlights with halogen auxiliary main-beam headlights, a headlight cleaning system and automatic dynamic range control, helps you by providing uniform illumination of the road with both dipped or main beam. The dynamic cornering light function swivels the main headlights towards the inside of a bend based on the steering angle and road speed. In addition, PDLS adapts light distribution to suit your current driving speed. The adverse weather function is activated when the rear fog light is switched on. This provides increased safety – not least in corners and not only at night. Automatic headlight activation Automatic headlight activation is available as standard on the new Cayman models. The system uses the ambient lighting conditions to automatically switch between daytime running lights and dipped beam. Note, no mention of the light intensity[8|]

Perhaps it is the boxster 981 that have xenons not as bright and not the cayman ,though that sounds unlikely .certainly the boxster 981 I had on loan for a month was nothing like as good at night as the boxster s with bi xenons I now have or the cayman s I prev had with bi xenons.

The washers are only needed on the more powerful Bi Xenons so I'd agree on the brightness, std S Lights will be lower ratings than the Dynamics. Interesting that std lights on the Cayman are Halogen so there are three stds of light. I found the dynamic lights really good when I tried them on the new Cayman S, my Gen 1 with Bi Xenons was previously car with the best lights I've ever used.
