I've desided to kick start my mid life crisis early and as such have settled apon the idea of a Porsche. I started looking at the 80's and discovered that a good 80's car was over 10k, then I desided that whilst I love the exterior I just don't like the early 80's interiors.
So here I am, I currently drive a 3.0 Sovereign x-type estate, she's fully loaded with all the toys required to keep a chap happy. She's also Bi fuel LPG so only costs £36 for 265 miles, all good stuff but as I ride bikes to work and hardly go out that's alot of car sitting on the drive doing nothing other than look shiny. Also in time she will start to depreciate all on her own.
Now I don't like to lose money if I can help it, so I've had a thought. I do like detailing and I plan to sell the Jag and add a little cash to the pile, then go off hunting for a 996 that requires a full detail especially paint correction.
The aim is to buy a mechanically sound car, 80-100 miles or so for under 15k. Then set about detailing it, as I only do around 100 miles a month in the car I'm not to worried about fuel costs. I'll keep it for the majority of the summer and sell it towards the end, hopefully for a small profit or at least recover my money.
I feel that early 996's will start to hold or apreciate over the next few years as the 80's cars have done. So in your opinion guys is this a fair plan?
I'm looking at 996's up to 2000, would prefer black with a light interior.
Any advice you might have will be helpfull.
Thanks
PS. I've had a good look through the gallery at your cars, I have to say there are some excellent examples in there with a few stunning paint jobs. Well done []
