i want to purchase a 3rd brake light roof spoiler but dont know if its genuine or non genuine what material are these made out of and would a fibre glass one have the part number stamped into it or would only the origional porsche item have a part number stamped into it

cheers

Sajjad,

Be VERY careful in choosing the spoiler. There are a few out there which are not original Porsche items and THEY DON'T FIT!!!

The easy way to tell is the Porsche item has two metal brackets which are glued to the rear screen (use glass adhesive). The main light assembly is then dropped on to the posts on the brackets on top of a pair of "Z" springs and held with nuts. The plastic (not fibreglass) cover slips on over the top and clips on via small metal clips.

The one orignally supplied with my car came from Pro-9 - and it was junk. There were no fittings and it relied on being stuck on with something like Stikaflex. It fell off before the car even got to me!!!

The Porsche unit I fitted subsequently has been on for a year now with no problems.

If you are fitting it yourself the most difficult bit is getting the wiring to the new stoplight. Mine was taken from the left hand stoplight, up the C pillar, into the roof and through the rear window surround just above the rubber. Externally the wiring gets hidden by the new rubber seal supplied with the spoiler.

I bought my spoiler from Design 911.

Best regards

Dave
