Whilst at Raby Castle met Andy from Yorkshire who had a very lovely Silver 911 Turbo for sale (930) which had been fully retored properly 10k glass out paint job etc !
He approached me and we had a chat he was looking for something more practical and on mentioning this someone at Strasse in Leeds had told him to take a good look at 944,s.
He had never driven one and was not really up to speed on the model, "jump in" says me and off up the road we went when the car was nice and warm i pulled over and let him drive, he was just taking it steady and not wanting to hoof the car but with a little encouragement he opened her up.
He said they were as good if not better than expected and was on a mission to get one.
Phone call tonight and his 911 Turbo has sold, asking if i was interested in selling mine.............No No No, pollitely !
He is now on a serious hunt for one he wants Turbo S / Turbo SE spec LSD etc.
I have advised not to rush as he seems to think he has been missing ecently advsrtised ones, told him he should hang on and buy the best he can find.
I am keeping an eye out, anyone know of anything ?
He is no mug and knows his way around cars so no Tat please.

Admins.... quick hide this post before my wife spots it or I may find my car missing off the drive one day...lol

good luck to Andy in his search....:)

Keep an eye on the 'piston heads' site, some very nice 944s2 cabs there, i seen 1 or 3 personally. As for any ads , call, chat ,suss & deal. We looked at 70% garbage too........[]

I know of a nice one for sale - my old one, but I have first refusal!

Search under my name for posts about the car - it is a '91 car with an LSD and a few mods.

If I cannot find enough pennies in the piggy bank to buy it back....

Mine will be for sale shortly - might not be exactly what he's looking for though - a bit non-standard, high miles (172k) and not cosmetically perfect (stonechips etc..). It drives beautifully & is a lot more solid than most turbos with half the mileage. Fantastic value IMO! [:D]

Just need a few more days to get it ready & take some pics.

I am still looking for another, has to be non-standard. KW's a bit more boost etc.
Cash is waiting, has been since before DHX was sold.
Missed out on some nice ones from being away like Scott's old one thats gone to Tom.
They all seem to be red! I said I not have a red one but come to the decision that condition is a lot more important then colour.
So if you know of anything PM me.[:)]

Ed,
If you are putting yours up for sale and putting it back to standard then let me know as I would be interested in buying the modified parts and giving you standard parts back.
Regards
Sandy

I had considered it - so it's possible. ....for now I will put it up for sale as is & see how it goes. i think I might get slightly more cash by selling the parts separately, but it is a lot of extra work. (there are lots of non-standard bits if you start counting stuff like 968 lower arms & brake cooling ducts etc.. [:D]) It would be a shame to do it as well - the car goes and handles very nicely as it is currently set up.

As it happens, I have an extremely nice, completely standard 1990 944 Turbo - which MIGHT be for sale - at the right price! I also have a 993 Carrera 2, so it's not like I'm abandoning the marque. I have recently retired and need to thin out my fleet! I was going to wait until the Spring, but if there's interest out there then.....?

The following may look like an advert, but by giving full details it will avoid a myriad of further questions. Here goes....

The car has a comprehensive service history with 25 stamps in the book, OPC (7), Intaporsch (1), Paragon (2), Charles Ivey (6), Parr (7) and latterly Northway (2). It has the very large majority of the invoices, which together total over £25K. Also the last 11 MOTs.

As a late 'Bridge Spoiler' model it clearly has the 250 bhp engine, and the (by then) standard fitment of LSD, ABS, Central Locking, Elec seat adjustment and Alarm. It is Panther Black Metallic with Linen interior. Optional Extras are Air Conditioning, Hi-Fi 10 speaker sound system, Sunroof and Leather Seat facings. It also has a Sony Radio/Cassette with 10 Disc CD changer. Absolutely everything works, including the digital clock! It has had a bit of paintwork here and there, but all very well done. The sills, wing bases, wheelarches etc are all rock solid, with no sign of corrosion (or even rust) anywhere.

In addition to regular servicing at the correct intervals thoughout its life, now approaching 102,000 miles, the cognoscenti will wish to know the following:

Clutch and Flywheel replaced @ 80,191 miles
Alternator @ 88,262 miles
Aircon Condensor @ 95,088 miles
All Brake Hoses replaced @ 95,088 miles
Discs, Caliper Plates and Pads all round @ 96,698 miles
Belts last done @ 97,236 miles (albeit now 3+ years ago)
Aircon Compressor @ 97,349 miles

and just the other day...

New Power Steering Pump (OPC Exchange) and New Steering Rack @ 101,583 miles (not cheap!)

Finally, the original D90s were stripped, dipped and powder coated by The Wheel Specialist barely 4 weeks ago. They are therefore unmarked. The tyres are matching Continental SportContact N1s with between 5 and 6 mm tread.

So, if there is GENUINE interest, then the car MIGHT be for Sale. For 'Andy' in Yorkshire, mentioned at the start of this thread, I will be up that way in the car 15 to 17 Nov. Also for anyone else visiting the NEC Classic Car Show on Sat 14 Nov, it will be in the Car Park and a rendevous is possible by arrangement.

Message Ends.

Certainly sounds right and quite a high spec, i will run this past him, though the buyer of his 930 Turbo has buggered him about and pulled out...................his car must be one of the best original 911 Turbos around ?
