Genuine Wheels?

Keggers

One more question. The 964 I saw today had 17 inch Cup wheels, but didn't have the offset stamped next to the valve stem. Was instead no the opposite side of the rim from the valve stem.

Am I right in believing this means they aren't genuine wheels? It was a late 1993 model (checked the VIN) so should have Cups, but appeared to have replicas. If they're not genuine, any major problems with impact on driving performance etc.?

Cheers

Greg,

It's difficult to be precise since not all factory wheels have the width and offset cast into the rim anyway. The only way of being sure is to remove the wheel and check for a Porsche part number cast into the back of the wheel. Original 17" Cup wheels will have a 965.362.xxx.xxx number although there's a chance they could be Cup 2 wheels rather than Cup 1s. Aftermarket wheels will often have a logo cast into the rim - Mille Miglia use a stylised "M".

Not much help I'm afraid - you need a bit more information to be sure.

Regards

Dave

Assume they are not genuine unless you can get a look at the back for a part number as suggested above. I might be wrong but all genuine Cup wheels I have ever seen have always had size and offset next to the valve stem.
