German Style Plates?

Signor

New member
Greetings
I've seen a couple of cars recently that have UK registrations but are made up to look like German style plates! I think it looks good and appropriate.
However is this legal? and would you pass your MOT? And would "certain" instruments be successfull in capturing you progress as you traverse the British Highways?
As always, Ladies and Gentleman I look forward to your comments!

Signor the quick answer (from me is I dont know[&:][&:]) but am keen to see other posts as I quite like the idea of the Germanic styled plates.
One thing for sure is it would be illegal to display a D on the plate instead of the GB.
But, i have fitted number plate frames that hold the plate in place - so in theory the German styled plates could easily and quickly be swapped back to uk ones as and when reqd.....
any others thoughts guys, and any recomendations for suppliers of Germanic plates?
Cheers

So long as the text and background are the right, reflective colour, and the text is the correct size and properly spaced, I can't see how they are not legal. There's nothing in the regulations other than these requirements, is there?

Fraid so.

Has to be the correct typeface, no other logos, pressed steel isn't allowed anymore, etc. There are a couple of links in the "useful links" post in the General section to numberplate regs.

You will definitely have a problem. I have two friends in different parts of the UK who ran them on their 3.2's and both got stopped and warned they were breaking the law. Funny how this stuff attracts attention, but closing up the spacing and/or sticking in coloured screws to turn H's into11's doesn't.

Thanks Guys
It was just a thought? [:(] Probably not a good idea then, don't need to give our beloved constabulary any reason to pull you in [] Other than maybe making too much progress (your Honour!)[:D]
Cheers
Alex
