Sunday 6th August - German Supercar Breakfast @ Goodwood House

Register Member Tony Willet has proposed this meet for the register. Goodwood is the real home of motorsports and car enthusiasts, and has been hosting a very popular breakfast meet once a month this year. Some of the events are themed, and this is 'our' one, which had over 500 supercars last year. I'm not going to be able to make it myself, but Tony has volunteered to co-ordinate our register getting together and will hopefully be able to take a few group shots for the Porsche Post.

I think the details are fairly self-explanatory below, but if you'd like to contact Tony his e-mail is : tony.willitt@btinternet.com

Supercar enthusiasts enjoy a super Breakfast at Goodwood
Goodwood's fourth Breakfast Club meeting of the season, held on Sunday 4th June, was the most successful yet, with hordes of motoring enthusiasts flocking to West Sussex to feast on a mouth-watering display of super food and supercars.
Goodwood Motor Circuit's Vitra Café served up a tempting home-reared organic breakfast, made even more palatable by the hundreds of exotic supercars that surrounded the Vitra Café. That all-too-scarce British ingredient, bright warm sunshine, also paid a visit to make the day truly memorable.

Rubbing wing mirrors with the many Ferraris, Porsches, Aston Martins, etc., in attendance, were examples of ultimate, state-of-the-art supercars, like the Ferrari Enzo and Porsche Carrera GT. Some unusual front-engined exotica, such as a rare Bitter CD, and fearsome De Tomaso Longchamp GTS, also gave the excited enthusiasts something to savour whilst enjoying their organic bacon sandwiches.

The Goodwood Breakfast Club was instigated in March 2006 for those enthusiasts who appreciate the prospect of a fabulous Sunday breakfast, following an invigorating drive to the historic Goodwood motor circuit on some of Britain's most wonderful roads. Its aim is to combine Goodwood's Home Farm all-organic produce and the talent of its superb Vitra Café chefs with its picturesque motor circuit to create the perfect Sunday morning road run destination.

With each of the four Breakfast Club meetings proving an overwhelming success, there are now firm plans to continue the venture on the first Sunday of every month, from July through to October. The only exception will be in September, when visitors to the circuit will be treated to the world-famous Goodwood Revival instead!

Each Breakfast Club meeting is themed, but all are welcome driving any interesting vehicle. Entry is free and gates are open from 09:00hrs to 13:00hrs. From 11.30hrs, visitors may also take the opportunity to visit the exquisitely decorated Regency State Apartments at Goodwood House, ancestral home to the Dukes of Richmond, open from 13:00hrs.
The schedule for the remaining 2006 Breakfast Club season is:
· July 2: Classic British Cars
· August 6: German Sports Cars
· September "" not applicable (Goodwood Revival weekend "" 1.2.3 September)
· October 1: Americana

he real problem with Goodwood is getting there. I went to the Friday session of Festival of Speed. Took 4 hours to driive from N London in horrendous traffic ( started off at 9.30am to miss the rush hour) Coming home was easy - only 3.5 hours. My satnav and TMC were working overtime rerouting around jams and more jams. Could only spend 2.5 hours at Goodwood. Dont think I willbe repeating this next year unless I can hitch a lift on a plane.

We too were stuck in traffic going in and getting back: was this because majority of the people got the free tickets from Times for Friday or was Saturday and Sunday the same?

I was at Goodwood on Friday and it was an excellent day. I think all three days were sold out so probably equally busy on all three days. Suggest you go a little earlier as doors open 7am - I left Chiswick at 8am and was there in 1hr 20mins (on a motorbike!) and a friend left at 7 and was there in 1hr 30mins. It did take him approx 2 hrs 30 to get back though.

I can't imagine that the traffic will be quite as bad for the breakfast meets, especially if you get away early. What time do they normally finish?
