Get Your Insurance Agreed Value Updated!

Had a PCGB valuation of my car in 2012 but have not had one since, so the agreed value on my Classicline policy had expired (only valid for 2 years!). Just received the new valuation - I'd seen increasing asking prices for 968's on PH, Autotrader etc, and the new valuation reflects the rise (60%). Just sent it off to insurers, wonder what their reaction will be (increased cost for insurance at a guess!!).

My insurance is due in April - how do we get a valuation from the club and how long does it take?

For general interest - I posted my valuation request on 19th Feb and received the valuation this morning, 31st March. From what I've seen before, 6 weeks seems to be the norm (I'm commenting, not complaining, thanks Steve Kevlin for the service you provide!!).

So, any thoughts on who I should use to insure my 968 Sport? I got a quote from Locktons (agreed value) which came back at £303 for 3,000 miles [8|]. Thought that was a bit on the high side if I'm honest. I might of gone with that if it was 5,000 miles. Any suggestions peeps [:)]?

Pete,

I've just renewed my S2 for 6000 miles for £112 with Admiral. I had to ring them (quote received online) as it's just turned 25 and qualified for their classic insurance. For another tenner I can send in a form they've sent and about 9 photos, to get agreed value. I put in a value of £9.5k when I did the quote. I've not sent the form and photos yet but may well do. How that helps?

I'd give Locktons a close look (the detail is everything!) but also ClassicLine. I like having EU wide breakdown and recovery (including people) included, damned if I know how thay can include that as well as comprehensive insurance and agreed value (now £20k for my 968 cab) for the price.

Hi John.
What is that you have on? My guess would be large Skate or Conger.
I have agreed value insurance at present but thinking of changing to market value.

John Frith. 968 cs.

Although 968CS prices have gone a bit daft this last year or so, I would suggest getting an up to date PCGB valuation before deciding whether to go for market valuation, you may get a pleasant surprise (as I did). It also removes any discussions with insurer should the worst happen - especially when there is a CS race car offered at about £17k and others, unmolested, at over £30k!

John

In the current upward trend I would go for market value - Agreed is fixed for a 12 month period. Market value could be £15K say at April 16 and come another 12 months ie April 17 could be £20K

PS Good guess. Try Tarpon (no conger or skate in the Florida Keys)

My LHD CS now insured for £32k. With only 140,000 kms on the clock. Looking on Mobil.de sellers are asking crazy money for 968CS with stratospheric mileage.
