Get your liners off!

Hi Everyone,

This post is not intended as a `look at me` thread.

Its main purpose is to encourage and inspire some of you to get in behind the trim of your 964 before the winter and get it cleaned and sealed up. (if you haven't done such a task already of course)

I decided to do this during last winter just after i bought the car as i was keen to see how clean or not the car was behind the plastics. Thankfully i was more than surprised with the condition of the car.

Hope you enjoy the pics and seriously consider doing the arches - its not a technical or difficult task - just time consuming.

Thanks

Nice work Mark. I had a go at that a while back. Here was the before pic:

After a bit of cleaning, it became clear that someone in the past must have fitted either wheels that were too wide or had the wrong offsets. It's amazing what dirt can hide! [:D]

Very nice work ! I spent a couple of fine summer days doing similar. Some of the screws etc were pretty hard to get loose so
i recommend anyone to get to it before they get worse. Where did you get the screws and did you replace the securing clips as well ?
Must admit i wire brushed mine and then good old copperslip. I also lifted the sill cover rubber and found a spot of corrosion that could have
left a hole in the sill if undiscovered.

And while you have the osr wheel off and all is clean, check the oil pipes the metal one that runs along the inside of the arch and the 2 rubber ones that go to the tank I have replaced a number of these on the 964s over the years and remember, if they do start to leak the oil goes stright on to the tyre! if in doubt replace! and check the oil tank rubber mounts at the same time. Berny.
