Getting rad fixed under warrantee

Diesel130

New member
Just had call from OPC who are servicing my C2 to say one of the radiators is corroded and leaking, so they're fixing it under the warrantee. That's good. Anyone know how much a new rad is supplied and fitted by OPC (so I can meanly work out how much 'value' I'm getting) ...

PS: Have just joined up as PCGB member BTW, haven't got membership details through yet, so don't know how to change signature setting.

The rads are about £100 each, plus 2-3 hours fitting, so reckon on about £400 from an OPC or £250 from an indy.

To quote Mark Bennett:

If it says "Non Member" by your name, you need to confirm your Membership Number and Forum Name to Club HQ (email cluboffice@porscheclubgb.com ) This should be a one-time fix, and will also allow you access to the member-only areas of the Forum.

(The reason you need to do this is because it would cost a lot of money to link the Membership, and the Forum databases. I'm sure you would want to spend money on more important things...)

ps Welcome to the wonderful world of PCGB membership!!

Didn't know that rads are included ?!? Diesel which opc is that ? Please let it be one close to London.

Regards Voya

If the rads are covered under the warraty why, I wonder, isn't the expansion tank? [&:]

I remember a while back there was a big fuss made about the RMS failures, and after PCGB had discussions with Porsche, they decided to add it as a warrantable item. We should get the expansion tank added too....I mean we all get short straw as it is with the short warranty period compared to USA (2yrs vs 4).

if memory serves me correctly, OPC will replace radiators under warranty if the corrosion occurs 'to the inside' of the radiator (ie not exposed when you look through the front PU). if the radiator corrosion occurs 'on the outside' because of maintenance (ie getting leaves, stones and the like stuck in the front), then you fall into goodwill territory because it's 'wear and tear, sir.'

room for expert judgement to be exercised me thinks

I get the impression from others on here an PH, that there's a lot of flexibility. Guess as I was having a 12,000 mile service, plus spark plugs, plus fuel filter, plus air bag check, plus compete new key, they were sympathetic.

Still can't work out the bill - I got 10% off parts, but the total was 125 less than what the menu prices added up to. Seems the split down of parts and labour was less than menu prices. Oh, and they phoned me up to say that the front reg plate mouning was broken (which I knew about) and a new one cost 5.27, but they didn't charge for fitting it and replacing the number plate. Even if that only took them 10 mins, still seems like good value to me.

Anyway, a thumbs up for Colchester.
