Getting ready to sell my MY2002 996 - Spray advice

I've gotten away with having a little'un and keeping the 996 for 8 months now, however with the news that another one's on the way, it's time to move to a more practical car [:(]

My 996 is in pretty good shape except for a large amount of chips on the nose and a few on the bonnet. I feel that to get a good deal, whether it be private or trade, that I should get these sorted first.

Can anyone recommend a good bodyshop / sprayer in the Surrey / Berkshire border areas? I'm just outside Ascot but am reasonably flexible on location.

Thanks in advance for any tips.

Pah- I've got two little 'uns, 4 yrs and 11 months respectively, and they both fit in the back of my 4S just fine!

However, if you're set on selling, I'd be surprised if you got a meaningfully better trade offer as a result of a chip respray, but it would probably make a difference on a private sale, as presentation accounts for so much.

I can heartily recommend Specialized Paintwork, just behind Porsche Cars GB/OPC Reading, just off the M4. As well as doing a great job, they will give a 10% discount to PCGB members.

Do your 2 little'uns help with the finance payments too ? [;)]

Ta for the recommendation.

I would take some before/after pics just to document the repairs as cosmetic - in case a prospective buyer might suspect accident damage, particularly since it is the bonnet/front PU. [8|]

No harm in this, but most Porkers will go through the body shop for a front end work every time they are traded.

As above, I don't think it's worth you doing this if you are going to trade it in to an OPC.

I just had my whole front and roof resprayed and a new windscreen (yes chips on the roof!!!) in preperation for selling the car and I have to tell you it looks superb, it looks like a new car. It looks sooooo good that I can't bring myself to advertise the bloomin thing as I love it so much.

Not at all, the whole job (without the windscreen that was insurance due to 30mm chip in zone A) came to £890.00 and as I said both wings, bonnet, front PU and roof in Metalic Black.

The finish is stunning and I had a couple of small indentations that I forgot to mention but were repaired without additional charge.

And if you are wondering the company is based in Eastbourne, although not Porsche approved, you'd be hard pressed to know it.
