Getting really hacked off with PVTS

I am getting a morning call from Cobra everyday now as wherever I put my card in my wallet it seems to make contact with something and turn itself off.

Anyone else have this problem? I'll check Porsche Design as they probably sell a wallet with a dedicated protected pouch for the card at about a zillion bucks!

[]

Do you have the same problem with both cards or just the one? If it's just the one then I think there must be a fault with the card. To turn mine off I have to hold the button down for what seems like an eternity but is probably about 10 seconds, difficult to see how this could happen accidentally.

i keep getting texts saying battery low-but how do they / I know which one??both are flashing quite brightly.i presume its an opc job to get a new battery

I am with Snarf on that. I have never had a problem. I put the "plip" into a compact flash card holder and then into my trouser pockets which get very squashed. My wife once put the plip in her wallet and we got a call, perhaps the credit card strips impede the signal / receiving.

I have switched off the second plip which is stored in a safe. That took a lot of pressing before it went off.

I did read somewhere that there should be no metal should be around the plip. Are you putting it next to your platinum Amex? [:D]

One of mine went through a wash cycle, initially looked to be dead but was resurrected on drying out and has worked fine ever since.

Never had a problem with mine, when my wife collected her car the "plip" was in a plastic wallet attached to the key ring she just leaves it in there and has never had a problem either!!

Jamie, I'd be asking for a repacement.. it would surely be worth their time aswell as yours...
I haven't yet managed to turn mine off yet.. keep trying but even after I have held the button, the light goes out..

and then it starts flashing again..[]

On the upside, at least you know its working [:)]

Had a problem with car alarm activating seceral times in one night, apparently due to the amount of small coins I kept in the armrest.

It is reassuring to have Cobra phone however, I went for the Sunday papers without the black bit and they phoned almost right away !

car went to opc for a week forget to leave fob with car-got a phone call every five minutes (every time car used to get sandwiches ):ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Hi Jamie

Service guy at OPC Swindon warned me against putting the Cobra device in your wallet as chip & pin credit cards can affect it.... Good solution is the SportClassic II Key case large:

http://shop2.porsche.com/uk/men/accessoires/wap03003016/

This has a small zip pocket in the back which holds the cobra device perfectly. At £32, it is not too bad... I keep my house keys on it, but not the car key to avoid insurance problem...

I'd suggest the supplier.. which in my case is the OPC...

however cobra may be easier to deal with as its them having to make the calls all the time..

Confirming other posts, never had a problem with mine, other than having to have 4 or 5 tries to switch off. Seems to go off then starts flashing again! Only had it switched off a couple of times when I have known car won't be used for while. Keep in wallet with CCs etc.
