Glass window retrofit for 996 cab?

Hasan

Hi,

I am now seriously considering trading up to an early 996 cab from my 993 C2.

I know the early ones have plastic windows in the hood which looks ok I guess.

The later ones have a heated glass window which looks much nicer. Would I be able to replace the plastic one with a glass one??

Thanks in advance,

Hasan

The plastic one zipes in. The glass one is bonded. As far as i know they are not interchangeable. Furthermore, I have read on rennlist/renntech that the two types of entire top are not interchangeable because of diffences in linkage system.
What is wrong with the plastic one though. It works fine for me. A quick detail with Meguires ScratchX brings it up like glass.

Thanks very much for your reply Bernie.

I think the plastic one looks good but the glass one is better that's all....for example in situations where you need the de-mister for one reason or another [;)]

I will seek out this Meguires product when I buy the 996!

I don't know about others but I find that my rear plastic window doesn't steam up. Must be because it's plastic and therefore a different temprature than the glass. It could also be the ScratchX as I apply it both inside and out. The only thing to watch out for is creases. Never close the top when its wet and always wipe it down before you close it to stop dirt rubbing which causes scratches. When you close the top, chop it and stick a towel in there. The hard top of course does have a demister.
Enjoy the 996.

Is this Meguires ScratchX available from retail outlest ? If so, then whom ?

If it is an online purchae, what is the website details ?
Thanks.
Steve.
