Glasstec Automotive - highly recommended

Happy New Year all.

Following bending the ear of a few members at the Christmas Dinner in December, thought I would post to update John and others.

Essentially the rear view mirror on my Boxster S had become loose.
Took it to Porsche Reading (a few mins from where I work), where the car was returned with the mirror completely removed from the windscreen and a guidance that the only solve was a completely new windscreen at £1,100 supply and fit.

Had the issue resolved by GLASSTEC AUTOMOTIVE yesterday at essentially no cost!
Cannot rate Paul Ralhan, the proprietor, highly enough.
Friendly, prompt in communications, no b/s, very knowledgeable.

He's based in North London but covers the home counties - suggest he'd make an excellent first port of call for R19-ers with any windscreen related issues.

thanks,
James

How much?!!!

Glad you found a sensible solution James. The mirror on my S2 fell off the week before a track day (where it's vital to see the loony behind that's about to pass you). Couldn't get a new sticky patch from an OPC, but remembered that Ford dealers sell the patch used on their cars, so that's what I used....cost about £1!

Thanks for the useful contact for the next time it happens!

Maybe not the same animal but when I bought my 944 it had a stick on mirror and after a couple of days I found the original mirror under the dirving seat. Straight to Halfords, bought their mirror bonding adhesive, probably be around £8 if they still sell it. Still on there now. In the kit is a small peice of mesh which is pressed onto a thin layer of adhesive applied to the mirror, then more adhesive is applied to fill the voids; the mirror is held in place for about a minute, then left to cure for a couple of hours or so.
