Cleaning my headlamps today I notice one of the lens is not as clear as the other one.Is it possible to seperate the lens to clean the glass from inside or am I looking to buy new a headlamp?[8|]
Additionally I notice the bumper clear lens are going the same way and wonder if the lens comes off or am I looking for replacement lamps here too?[8|]
Thanks in advance
Alan

Alan,
Not possible to seperate the headlamp glass. Find out how much new ones are (If you only buy one then the other is going to look it's age. If they are silly money then look on ebay for crystal ones that fit Golf Mk1. Backing mountings have to be swapped but they do fit, had them on my 944 for a short period. Now on shelf waiting to be fitted to Golf when finished.
If you can't find any I will have a look in my spares box to see if there is a decent headlight.

Driving lights are the same, swap complete unit. sometimes come up on ebay.
Cheers,

I think you will find that the headlight is a sealed beam unit so a new one will be required. As for the driving lights/fog lights I am not sure - I sold my 944 nearly 9 years ago and cannot remember. Someone is sure to be along shortly to confirm and/or advise.

Check the usual parts suppliers for prices, but IIRC the non height adjustable headlights on earlier cars are circa £40 each. Not sure about the driving lamps on Luxes but I know the Turbo/S2 has replaceable lenses at £80 each [], the whole unit is £160 each

If you need to replace the headlamp unit any 7" H4 unit without sidelight should fit. Anyone advise if this is the case???????
I've been thinking about replacing mine with some Cibie units that work out about £30 - £40 each
