i have done this but never posted it on the thread there are a few problems
inside the foam is a sheet of what looks like polycarbonate this is a non porous substrate
gluing the carpet to the foam is easy but to stop it going again you must bond the foam to its self and seal the crack, this joint needs to be flexible using a glue that goes "hard" will cause the foam to crack again back to square one
I comsidered many options. Like covering the foam with trunk liner or fabric even flock spraying but in the end I used a liquid latex to fill gaps and create a flexible joint solid joint
it was very expensive and pink but it did a fantastic job.......then I saw a perfect carpet on ebay so brought that
just tried to find the stuff on the web but couldn't see it, I'll look harder if your still interested
