A few 924 owners in Yorkshire were trying to arrange a get together and Andrew Mearns invited us to use his Garage (www.gmundcars.com) in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire. After some discussion around dates Saturday 31 August was agreed with Andrew offering a welcome throughout the day from 9am to 5pm. There will be tea and coffee all morning, then a buffet lunch, all complementary but of course we will need an idea of numbers for the catering. We felt this offer was too good not to share and with his agreement this has become Gmund 924 Day 2013.
Andrew is a fan of the 924 and has a 1976 Martini under restoration at the moment which should be available for us to see before going to the paint shop. He also owns a Concours winning 1977 Black 924 and a 1979 Series 1 924 Turbo. Also at various stages of restoration are 3 x 914's and he always has an interesting selection of Porsches for sale.
There will be chance to discuss the 924 restoration project and perhaps advice on buying, servicing and caring for the 924. Please feel free to post any suggestions for other ideas to add to the itinerary. There will also be some awards (furthest travelled to the event, 924 with most miles on it, tattiest car to attend, worst wheels award and some concours awards).
For people travelling a distance to the event we will be having a few beers on the Friday night at one of the local Pubs, there is loads of reasonable accommodation nearby (ask for a list).
