Gmund 924 Day 2013

A few 924 owners in Yorkshire were trying to arrange a get together and Andrew Mearns invited us to use his Garage (www.gmundcars.com) in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire. After some discussion around dates Saturday 31 August was agreed with Andrew offering a welcome throughout the day from 9am to 5pm. There will be tea and coffee all morning, then a buffet lunch, all complementary but of course we will need an idea of numbers for the catering. We felt this offer was too good not to share and with his agreement this has become Gmund 924 Day 2013.

Andrew is a fan of the 924 and has a 1976 Martini under restoration at the moment which should be available for us to see before going to the paint shop. He also owns a Concours winning 1977 Black 924 and a 1979 Series 1 924 Turbo. Also at various stages of restoration are 3 x 914's and he always has an interesting selection of Porsches for sale.

There will be chance to discuss the 924 restoration project and perhaps advice on buying, servicing and caring for the 924. Please feel free to post any suggestions for other ideas to add to the itinerary. There will also be some awards (furthest travelled to the event, 924 with most miles on it, tattiest car to attend, worst wheels award and some concours awards).

For people travelling a distance to the event we will be having a few beers on the Friday night at one of the local Pubs, there is loads of reasonable accommodation nearby (ask for a list).

Hi Richard... hope you're well!

I hope to be able to make this - will be good to see Andrew on his home ground[;)]... and everyone else, of course.
Might come up on the Friday - could you PM me the list, please?

Hi Richard, I have checked my diary and unfortunately we are away that weekend.
If you could send me the pic from 'Porkers' I will put a piece together for pp.

We are off to the Oldtimer GP tomorrow for the week, but I will get it sorted on my return.

Hi Paul

I missed your request for the accommodation list, sorry about that but I have passed it on to Ian. Has he sent it on to you or do I need to remind him? Fingers crossed you make it up to Yorkshire, it should be a good day.

Richard

Hi Rob

Hope your trip went well, it sounded like you were going to have a fantastic experience. I have emailed the pictures from Porkers so you have a choice to go with your piece for PP. If your plans change it would still be great to see you at Gmund at the end of the month.

Richard

Bother, I too am away that weekend otherwise I'd have been very tempted to take a run down.

Hi John

Good to hear from you and thanks for considering come to see us in Yorkshire. I hope this event will happen again next year and perhaps you will be able to make it then.

I will be up at Blair Athol for the PCGB meeting with the 924 Turbo and look forward to seeing you and your 924 again.

Richard

Hi Matthew

I hoped you might come down to Gmund again, the last event Andrew hosted for the 924 Register was a good day and hopefully this will be even better.

I know, it's quite brave for a Scotsman to even think about going to Yorkshire, but my mum came from Bradford, my injections are all up to date, and it might have made a nice wee adventure before Wee Fat Alex closes the border! [:D]

See you in Blair Athol ... remember your passport! [;)]

This was a great day for me to travel all the way up to see you all in sunny Yorkshire... well worth the trip! The Silver CGT was a definite highlight, quite apart from meeting all the enthusiastic owners and, of course, Andrew + team's hospitality[;)]
Hope to see you all again very soon[:)]
