Go fast bits?

Stay with me on this one. I've been having a go at selling my 996 recently and to be honest I've found it to be a depressing affair indeed.

However, I've had a bit of a brain wave. The reason for advertising the car is purely lack of use, less than 1000 miles in a year is hard to justify, but I could justify keeping it if I were to use it for hillclimbs.

I'm looking for advise on which mods will give me the best value upgrades to the car and if anyone can recommend any particular manufactures and what there experience of the products has been. For the record my car is a '98 3.4 but does have the LSD option and M030 pack. I intend to run it in the road going production sports car class which entails no cages, stripped interiors or non original engine size.

As a start I was thinking of uprating the water pump and fitting a low temperature thermostat and if I can find one to fit an electric water pump and cooling fan combo which could be switched on or off independently from the engine.
Other changes I'm considering would be to the exhaust and air intake systems, dampers, anti roll bars, bushes and possibly a baffled sump.

Any thoughts, pointers and general advise would be greatly received. Thanks.

I think all any of those things would only show that you spent money on the car other than standard servicing.

I cannot understand the intelligence off people they would sooner by an MX5 the Lada of sports cars for say 8k than pay 10k and get a true sports car.

At this point I'm not doing the work for anyone else's benefit. I intend to keep it for the long haul and want to make the best of it. Cheers

Then yes would be my answer water pump as a maintenance item and 71c stat are worthy of doing.
If your going to DIY consider getting a Cooling system fill/purge valve you can get them for about £35 -£40 on ebay but you need an airline to use it?.

I would have thought that the PCGB Speed Championship might suit what you want to do: http://www.porscheclubmotorsport.co.uk/race_series/speed_championship

For sprints and hillclimbs, I think a deep sump would be the first thing on my wish list. I believe Porsche do one for the M96.01, but have also seen a few aftermarket ones.

I have been sprinting for a number of years and would suggest leaving your car standard initially to find out if you like the sport.
Getting the helmet, overalls and gloves is costly enough and possibly the biggest performance gain would be from a set of 1B tyres.
Porsches tend to be competitive anyway. Good luck and enjoy it.
