Go Karting

Do we have a proposed date and venue for this yet Mark? Pole position Leeds is about the best track we've done in the past.

Also would prefer a Grand Prix format like last time rather then the Endurance type.....better fun I think!

Agree with what you're saying Doug, I was going to go for Pole position and a grand prix event.

No date as I need to get enough names before I can book it.

It's been a busy week for me including some practice time so I haven't had chance to get this sorted yet, but after last week's club night we have a good number of people. I will get you some more details next week and get a date and price sorted.

Really looking forward to it.

Just been talking to Karting places as it happens and it seems to have got expensive:

Pole Position in Leeds

F1 Superpole Event. Drivers line up for Q1, Q2 and Q3 just like on the F1. Use Q1 to get used to the karts and circuit, Q2 to find the racing line and then push in
Q3 for your ultimate lap time with the top 10 drivers qualifying for the F1 Superpole Final. This costs £900 for up to 18 drivers and £45 per additional driver.

Alternatively they can offer an Iron Man event. This consists of a 10 minute qualifying session then the choice of a 20, 30, 40 or 50 minute race. This however has a maximum number of 18 drivers, comes at about £30 each for 18.

Very few seem to do the grand prix style event that we did last time, and all want 20 people for about £45 each. One of them being that place in Wakefield that we did before.

The iron man seems to be a common format, but I am not particularly taken with it. Have a few more to talk to.

Thoughts?

Thanks for checking the karting out Mark. Have to be honest. That price is just too rich for me.

Hi mark, I mentioned Michael would be interested in this but it is like most other things in this country- prices are getting stupid. We would probably get more pleasure from putting £40 of petrol in a 911- now that's a proper go kart!

Chris

I have to say I was somewhat shocked at the prices and the numbers required. I am pretty certain that last time in 2011 we needed 10 of us and it was £20 a pop. The real cheek is that Pole Position have a premium rate phone number which is frankly taking the wee a little.

I don't know if you have had a look a this place Mark, I've seen the venue and it looks quite good, lots of different formats and the prices are cheaper than the ones you have seen. The only problem, is that the track is in the south of the region and the price of getting there will negate the savings for many....

Anyway, just a thought [;)]
