Going Radical or Going Mad!! I have been looking at buying a Radical SR3 for next season and may possibly be selling my 1992 Maritime Blue 964 RS.The car has full history 60k km and is standard except AMD chip and a full bolt in Safety Devices cage. The car is a real gem and I will be sad to see it go, but I am open to offers I cant refuse! Fantastic choice of track tool. The only thing you might regret is the depreciation. Good luck with your sale.

One senses a windup here.Is NickP being punished for daring to dump an RS for a Radical?

Don't get me wrong guys I love the RS but I am scared its going to get damaged if I continue to track it.After all its the only car I have ever owned that is worth more now then when I bought it. I will have to think of a plausible argument to justify buying a Radical and keeping the RS.........Mmm! Nick

Easy, the price inflation of the RS will soon cover the cost of the Radical

Aha, thought you were, the surname threw me....
Thought one of the reasons you were looking to change was that you didn't use the car on the roads much and Donny was your first track day for quite some time?
Don't think a radical would be the solution personally. If I was you i would keep the RS and try and get it on track as much as possible around the country - make sure you have an all track day insurance policy, track tyres, track biased set up and brakes etc.
You will soon have a much greater appreciation for the car and its abilities- IT NEEDS TO BE USED![]

Nick - Have you driven the SR3 on track yet? If so how do they compare with a 911. I know they are fast, but are they as rewarding to drive?
That's a very valid point. I'm not convinced that Radicals are more fun.
I'd rather have a Caterham than a Radical. You can use it on the road, drive to a circuit or trailer it. Cheap to run and repair - and just so much fun[8D]

I took a Radical SR3 out at Bedford last week at the Autocar event in the pouring rain. WHAT A BLAST! Unbelievable aero package that made corners mind numbingly fun. Not as quick flat out as a GT3, but the corner speeds were hilarious and the reflexes synaptic. It's a real buzz clambering in and piloting an open top mini-LM-alike racer... a very well sorted car that has a lot of potential imho.
I have thought about this hard and investigated it with a friend. Radical will be awesomely quick, but once in the groove you will kill everything else at a trackday, so much so that you might get frustrated. Other thought on my mind was need to trailer and also substantial running costs. Radicals need a lot of regular TLC. I'd still love one, but have opted to keep my Caterham for that sort of gratutous track fun as a touch cheaper/more practical. I never saw it as an either or with my RS!

You will regret your loss for many years to come!
Can you not just hire a Radical for the odd track day?
You can then keep the RS for garage queen stuff like Des does! ;O)
Genuinely just not got a free day at the moment whilst building up the empire however Bedford 8th may see green....
