good alloy wheel repair:

I've got one or two small scuffs on my alloy wheels - can anyone recommend a company that does a good job on repairs? I don't need the whole wheel refurbishing, just a touch up here and there.

I don't mind travelling to a good place though would prefer a mobile repairer to come to me.

Somewhere in the North/near Leeds would be best!

Thanks.

Thanks

So chips away do alloy wheels now too?

My Chpsaway guy in London sure does. His work is excellent and he recently left Chipsaway after working for them for last 3 years or so and is now independant doing it for himself.

Good luck if no joy try googling as there are lots of these mobile repair guys knocking around these days

Thanks Robert

Yeah did a google - though was after a recommendation as I've had a bad experience in the past with these sorts of outfits.

Plus the wheels are almost new OEM turbo II lookalikes and apart from literally 3 scuffs in total are perfect.

Kenny if you move to the smoke then I can recommend my man Dan :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: I am sure you will find a local man who can good luck in the meantime .. R

Kenny

You could alway ask the service guys at JCT (not reception) - they are usually good at letting slip who does the work well and then you can go direct.

They recommended a dent man 'Dan Bessau' to me a few years ago and he sorted the door on my old 3.2 in no time at all. Sadly his details have changed so I can no longer get hold of him!

Good luck with the RMS on your 996!

Thanks Ian, good idea - will do.

oooo what's this RMS business? seen loads of threads everywhere but thought my 2001 car should be OK, am I being naive?

sh*t come back 993, all is forgiven.

Kenny

I do hope the RMS issue doesn't bite you, but from what I have read it appears to continue to impact cars far later than your new purchase.

On the recent thread "Leaking RMS" there is a contributor called Mark Davis who has already had a second RMS replacement on a 2002MY C2 Coupe.

I like the 996 and thought this would be a good way to celebrate my 40th next year (and my wife likes the Boxster, so the gargae could have become a Porsche 1 - 2 when she reaches 40 the April after) however this RMS issue is going to put a stop to that. Maybe I'll keep my Turbo and she can have an SLK.

I wonder if the new 997 and next Boxster will inherit the RMS problem....

My fingers are crossed for you!
Ian

Kenny if it was me I'd probably live with the scuffs, admittedly I haven't got much experience with wheel refurb's, but the one time I had it done they looked great for 6 months then gradually went all peely & pitted.
Don't get stressed about the RMS thing, it is an issue, but not for the majority of cars & the newer the better!

Dear Kenny,

You may be fed up with suggestions by now but I thought I would give you a heads up on a company called Wicked Wheels.

I have just had all four of my 18" sport design refurbed which entailed spliting the rims and having them laser lathed to take off the kerb rash that the previous owner inflicted.

They did keep the car for 4 days and the cost of this work was £60.00 per wheel + VAT. My OPC quoted £100 per wheel + VAT and I would not be surprised to hear that they used them too! the centres were acid cleaned and they even replaced the old centres and installed new crested centres at no extra charge.

However, if the wheels are not split rimmed they can come to you to do the work and I wager, will be a lot cheaper than the spolit rims

The finish is superb and I am very pleased with the result.
