Good bodyshops in Glasgow or Edinburgh

Guest

Hello

Decided that my 993TT needs a bit of tidy at the front. Years of abuse from gritters and stone chips have rendered the bumper and bonnet a bit speckled. I live in Perth so am prepared to travel for a good bodyshop (Edinburgh or Glasgow). Anybody have experience with any good bodyshops? Has anyone used the OPC or Porsche approved bodyshops?

Many thanks
Ronnie

I wouldn't go to Hardie Inglis. Good they may be but as I am a perfectionist their standards are not enough to satisfy me. I had a neighbour who was a concours winner (not Porsche) and he recommends Alan Taylor who do a top notch job apparently. I saw a few Porsches being repainted there. I haven't used them myself but my neighbour was even more of a fuss pot than me so I suspect AT would be a safe bet. Another place wher I normally take my other cars is JB Coachworks in Paisley. Jim does a good job and he is great at paint matching metallic colours. Saw a 944 there and a few Mercs - I think his reputation is probably spreading (he used to operate out of a rather small place).

A friend of mine took his boxster to this guy:

Finishin Touchez... Longcroft Trade Centre, Bonnybridge FK4 1QQ tel: 01324 841 744... Ask for Colin.

Apparently one of the best bodywork places in the UK - a lot of his work gets featured in magazines etc.....and has experience with exotics, porsche, mercedes and right down to the Max Power muppets.

He charged £80 for this job:
"The Bumper PU was delivered, hwoever, it was scratched to buggery in three places... however, my bodyshop guy did wonders and filled and reprimed before applying the most perfect match i have seen on plastic bits..."

Second Alan Taylor, he gets a very good rep, but i believe is is at the top end of the price bracket, so depends what you want. Hardy Ingles are one of the most respected bodyshops in Glasgow and have been for many years. Maybe here standards are slipping, as it was 3 years ago i last used them.

Thanks for the replies guys. Do you have any contact numbers or address for Alan Taylor?

Many thanks
Ronnie
