Good Day Out at Oulton !

Our friends at Easytrack were running a trackday at the UK's spiritual home of RSs on Tuesday 24 April , and Steve 'Teaboy' Brookes managed to lure a 964RS ( Kevin!) to come along with promises of tea and cake AND a pit garage for polishing practice [:D]

The weather prior to the event may have deterred some people , but it turned out to be a dry day , the sun appeared , and the track was in fabulous condition.....it did claim its usual number of victims however.

I turned up in the orange 964 now fitted with a normal RS clutch and detuned by Mobil 10-60 Motorsport oil - dont ask !

Together Steve and I forced Kevin out onto track after hiding his comforter (polishing cloth )......and he responded by going like a scalded cat , all we could manage to hang on to him , in truth he was quicker than either of us. We did a few laps in formation - yellow white orange - for the benefit of trackside paparazzi .

There were a few other Porsches there including the Strasse race cars being shaken down , plus a 996 that will compete in the club championship this year - driver Mark McAleer ccoming from a 968.

Next outing Castle Combe 25 May ... there are still spaces left at a bargain £150 a go if you want to join the fun , great circuit for the 964/RS/Cup and scene of Gruppenfuhrer's sprint victory .....anyone ??

In my defence I did only polish the insects off the screen [:D]

John pretty much sums the day up perfectly - great track, great weather + great tea and company - what more can you ask for?

Look forward to the next outing!

Cheers,
Kevin

I've got some cracking video from the rear facing spycam showing me holding up the other two boys, including Kevin's car trying to mount mine under braking [:D]

I'll get it up on Youtube when I get time later.

That will be good Steve !

Meantime here's 90 seconds of me being overtaken - well it was an out lap....the really bad moment was when a BMW Compact ( 3 series) nipped past on the back of someone else....the mic did not pick up my comments..[
