good deal on 16v HT leads

Christ that is not a bad price; Despite hunting around I paid a shade more for S2 not too long ago.

In their defence they do fit very very well onto the cap and plugs. A far cry from cheapo leads and dare I say it, Magnecors.

Maybe I have been unlucky.

On a Duratec HE Mondeo they fitted appalling (especially when I paid £60 for the priviledge), if I am honest they were no better fitting that the pattern crap which came off. I still had to force them onto the plugs with the blunt end of a hammer in order to make them truly click (pushing them on really did not inspire confidence), something I have never had to do with genuine Ford leads. To add insult to injury the misfire was still there until I went with Ford leads (at a cost (£120; eeek!)).

On my Escort they are a bit better to be fair, but they still do not compare with how the Beru leads sit in a 944 (i.e a firm reassuring click when they are fully home, not a haphazard 'semi click and hope affair'.

I know a friend of mine had similar ignition issue with his RX-7 until he went with Mazdaspeed leads. Unfortunately he went through 3 engines to see what bits worked with his car and what didn't.:

"In particular, I got a set of uprated MazdaSpeed plug leads as there was a question mark about the ignition side of things contributing to the blow-up. The coils were tested and appeared to be absolutely fine, but I had Magnecor plug leads that were a nightmare for seating properly. The boot formed too strong a vacuum when you pushed them on and even when they seemed properly seated the electrode sometimes wasn't in proper contact. The Magnecor were red, which matched the colourscheme and the N.O.S. MazdaSpeed ones were a fetching shade of turquoise, which didn't, but you can't have everything!"

Forgive me if I got slightly carried away with the above but one of my pet hates is shelling out good money for something you fairly sure will work only to be be going 1 step forward and 2 steps back with an emptier wallet to show for it. Just my 2p on the matter.

For those who have had good success with Magnecors, fair play :).
