Good Indie in South Devon??

TSC

New member
Hi all,

First post here, I am looking to buy a Boxster in the next few weeks/months. Ideally I'm after a seal grey 2003 'S', with approx 40,000 miles on it (Hopefully this mileage should take care of the IMS failures I read about & a 2003/04 to get the glass rear screen). But there are a couple of things I still haven't found answers for:

* Is there a good independant specialist for servicing in the South Devon area? (I'm in Torquay). I do have friends in Reading, so it wouldn't be difficult to pop a car up to Northway Porsche for servicing - would that be a better option?

* I'm really after a manual, but what is the tiptronic like to use? Are the changes jerky? Does it only change gear when you push the button up or down? I imagine it's just an autobox that you can overide.

Thanks in advance,

TSC.

Haven't been to him myself but others from the region rate him very highly, I believe.

Or there's
Independent Porsche Specialists
Crispin Manners - Oaktree Garage, Newton Poppleford, Sidmouth, Devon

Yes, Andy's a good bloke - used to work at Exeter OPC. [;)]

Otherwise if you fancy a little trip a bit further north, I can thoroughly and personally recommend Martin Reed on 01271 375696 (just outside Barnstaple). Does all the work himself - no staff or apprentices and he really does likes Porsches! [:)]

Clive

Thanks for the replies chaps, I hadn't heard of the guy at Honiton or the one near Sidmouth. That will take a load off my mind about where to get things done.

Cheers,

TSC.

Hi TSC,
I live in Paignton and have a boxster, their are no other Indi's worth knowing Locally then Andy moss or Crispin Manners which have already been mentioned.
PS go for a Manual, will be easier to sell on in the future and a much more involved drive, now PDK is a differnet game all togther, but you won't see that on anything less than a new gen 2 987. I've spent some time with a gen 2 997 and its superb. [:)]

let me know when you get your car sorted and i'll keep an eye out for you on the roads. [:D]
