Good places for parts

Hey everyone, I'm vaguely looking for a new pair of mirrors for my 944 (secondhand), and wondered if anyone has any advice on good places/dealers , either online or around Bristol?
I never seem to see black ones on eBay, Porscheshop only sell new cup-style mirrors, so so far I have only found a pair in Canada online, which makes for expensive postage (and probably import tax too).

Cheers, Ian.

Ian,

if i can find a bit of money, I may be interested in selling mine as i have a pair of cup mirrors waiting to be sprayed up.

They are metallic black, on my '90 turbo, and are heated

Matt

Phil, cheers, I emailed them, see what they have.

Matt, okay, could be good -- but is metallic black noticeably different from normal black, and when you say heated do they have electric adjustment too? (Indeed, were non-electric mirrors ever an option, or are they all electric?)

PH Sports Cars of Shardlows Derby. may well be able to help you they are a breakers who specialise in the 924 and 944

The mirrors on my turbo (the black one) are up for grabs as I have acquired a pair of 968 cups. I have no idea what they are worth but hopefully someone out there will have an opinion.....

Let me know if your interested

They are heated (tied into the heated rear screen switch) and have electrical adjustment. But if yours is flat black you would be better going with Chris. I could be wrong but I reckon about £80-100 for the pair, if they're in good condition.

As mines a cab there is no rear screen heater so i don't know if there heated or not. I'll have a look tonight unless any one knows already.

Can't say for certain, but would have thought they must be given the age of your car. Wouldn't think you'd have to forego heated mirrors on a cab. Admittedly mine was (obviously) a coupe but on a 1988 924S it had heated mirrors.

And IIRC operated by a separate switch to the rear-screen???

The ones on my cab are and it's an '89 as well.

Cab heated mirrors are on all the time with the ignition. Yes, that's bloody stupid. It cost me a battery at Le Mans when my mate wanted to charge his phone to text his girlfriend.

You could also try Porschapart, Douglas Velley, CMS Porsche, etc., etc., and about another three or four breakers on Ebay (Paul in the Western Islands, Steve Dean, etc.). There are a huge number of places to look for Porsche 944 parts. Pick up a copy of 911 & Porsche World for addresses/numbers of the non-Ebay ones above if you can't find them on the internet.

Just to say, thanks for all the info guys, I [will soon] have a new pair of mirrors, and have a bigger list of places to search next time!

Ian.
