Sorry if this is the wrong section to post such a question - im new.

Just picked up my first Boxster at the weekend - a 2001 model 2.7, with 44K on the clock. Am looking for a good specialist place for servicing - ive noticed RJS sportcars in Slough - what are they like - any experience?

Dont want to take it to Porsche, as the price is to high.

Also, im experienceing very slight clutch judder when pulling away in first - its about the right mleage for a clutch to be worn, or could this simply be im not giving enough revs - which i have heard these cars need ???

many thanks.

Chris

Clutch wear is totally dependant on how it's been driven - mileage doesn't enter in to it.

As to servicing, GT-One in Chertsey, Ray Northway near Reading, or farther afield Wight Tune and Autofarm.

Google any of these for address/contacts and also feedback.

A couple have been mentioned that I confess I wouldn't use after past experiences but I recommend Hillcrest in Nettlebed. Don't let the premises put you off.

OK, thanks guys.

Im in Maidenhead, so the Datchet and Reading ones sound good. Ill check them out.

As for the clutch, im wondering whether its just me getting used to the car - it doesnt seem as bad now, im giving it a little move revs when pulling away, as i read thats what these cars need - and it seems OK - Its like that when you get a new car - you become very sensitive to every knock or rattle. The clutch seems fine at stalling the car.

many thanks

chris

You could enquire at PC Reading to see if they still do the very favourable labour rates for cars over five years old for members.

As an example, I had the oil in my 944 Turbo cab changed there and the bill was around £185. Bear in mind the cost of 10 litres of Mobil 1 and an oil filter is the best part of a hundred quid, and they the inspected every nook and cranny finding a slight weep of power steering fluid from one pipe union, a minute drip from the balance shaft housing, and surface corrosion on the infamous fuel lines, which is eminently catchable before it dmaged the pipes. All in all they had the car for 90 minutes including the road test.

RSJ are very good. I had quite a lot of work done by the guys in 2006, 2007 and part of 2008 and never had a problem. Best person to speak to at RSJ is Sid.

Another one to try is NineX Motorsport in Miadenhead, aslo very good. He's just started up so offers some good prices. Best person to speak to is Andy.

Let me know if you require their numbers.

I also have had the 944 and 993 in at rsj and no issues to report (they managed to cure the leak on the 944, multiple times :))

well, i have booked it into Tognola Engineering this friday, so we'll see what its like - they were not the cheapest, but i got a good feeling from the fact there a small outfit.
Thanks for all the answers.

cheers

chris
