Good project or money pit on ebay?

I spotted this earlier myself - Can you guys tell me if the earlier 4 speed gearboxes are reliable?

I'm always on the look out for a 930 in this kind of condition but would prefur a 5 speed..

your thoughts please on 4 or 5 speed - pro's & con's.

Hello, still looking for a good one myself done a lot of research on the subject. Some people say four speed better suited for the set up of the car etc, but others say for motorway etc, five speed is best.

For me if I came across a good four speed I would buy it end of the day you have a choice.

SEE YA

Considering the the 5 speed was only offered from Model year 1988 onwards, it means you don't have that much choice, unless you come accross a 930 with a RUF 5 speed conversion.

The 4 speeds have a weakness with the 3rd gear syncro but will take one hell of a hammering before giving up. Sometimes the reverse will play up too.

I prefer the 4sp given the nature of the beast. Personal choice.

Cheers

Just found out the reserve on this is £12500 !!

looking at the other 930's on ebay I think the guy is living in la la land.....

looks like a old pear thats been trodden on a few times, shame ....!! why do people let them get like this ???

Thats 12.5K at the reserve, then by the looks it needs a fair bit of new metal & a full re-spray.

Probably 5-6K, that makes....er......around 18K!

And that's only what we can see that needs doing!

Me thinks not a good buy......even at the reserve![;)]
