Here's the YouTube link to the Walter video (in a 997.2 Turbo): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRNiHu8sFhc

I like the look of the one through the Alps! I think getting our cars across to Mallorca could prove tricky though![;)]

How much notice do you get for these trips?...I'd need a couple of months to sort out work and join the trip.

Menton is around 1000 miles from West Devon...........so that should be about a four day round trip then Gary:ROFLMAO:

About 12 hours surely........[:D]

So many roads yet so little time!! [8D]

Spain was talked about a few years ago but the Euro put pay to that..however I think the time is right..[:)]
I nearly did some of the route through France last year but the trip got canceled. [:(]

Would people be interested in August?
We need to keep the start of September free for Birthdays [;)]

Super spot Alex...

You can do St Moritz in about 7 hours but its not nice!! [:D]

Just googled this:

http://www.grande-traversee-alpes.com/en/my-journey/by-road/the-great-alps-trail.html

This breaks down the route between sections.

I'm in by the way for Aug. Unsure the complexities of having a 15 month old by then but will make it happen somehow - even if I have to bring up the rear at a slightly slower pace and take extra stops.

There seemed a muted interest last time June was mentioned... I think as some chose to take family holidays at that point..
Its good for myself either way.

Aren't the kids still at school then........? Another good reason to avoid August![:)] Just thinking the roads will be so much busier in Aug - that's all. Are you still thinking of a German trip sometime next year, Gary?

Yes, Germany is still on the books, May was one of the times being considered for that trip- but it was slighlty dependant on open times of a certain toll road in Germany.

Is there a secret to getting Christophorus from Porsche?

I have bought 4 911's but don't get sent that mag. Does any one else have problems?

May or August could work for us. [:D]

Up for a german &/or a Spanish trip

Put me down for as many trips as possible as the other half is dropping hints that the car should be sold as its not being used enough[:(][:(][:(][:(][:(][:(] May June would be a good starter. Have driven back from the French Alps a few times after skiing its a good 8 hour race back to Calais, even more fun when there is snow on the mountain road [X(]

I'll be having words when I see her [;)]

I'll be up for a trip or two in my new motor, Gary- can't do 11-25 June though, cos I'm cycling the End to End (John O'G to Lands End!) Just ordered a new titanium bike and will now have to start getting my training routine up and running![8|]
Regards, Mike.

Regarding the Original Poster's reference to the Mallorcan road article.

That picture must have been taken at the crack of dawn or when the road was closed.

I've been down that road in a hire car and it's a nightmare of traffic and coaches trying to get round the hairpins - sometimes they need a couple of attempts to get round and a small traffic jam is the result.

Don't believe everything you see in a glossy magazine.
