Goodridge brake hoses tight on back axle

I am fitting braided brake hoses to my 1993 964 C2 the fronts have fitted without any issues, when fitting the rears the new hose look tight ie too short.
When I compare the OE parts to the goodridge (off the car) there is is a difference of aprox 20mm not a lot I know. But with the car on stands under the body work and suspension arm is on full travel the hose is at full stretch without any slack?
Any one had the same issue. Part number of goodridge parts kit is 964ZPR0501-4P

Keith, I fitted the same hoses, I didn't check how they compared in length to the originals but here is a pic of one in place. Hope it helps?

Hi

Have you checked the length of the hose that you have fitted to the front? You may have fitted the wrong one!

Only a suggestion, not a criticism[8|]

Have fun

Thanks for the photo Steve and yes Paul I have considered your comment.
The front pipes differ in the way they connect to the body ie hex flange on pipes mates with hex flange in body.
Steve my pipe is like a bow string, on full pump, do you have a measurement of the braded hose. Mine measures 25.5cm this from begining to end.
Thanks keith

I recently did this job as well, I remember thinking that the rear lines looked a bit short, but if you look at it the line is at full stretch when the car is up in the air on the ramp, so if the line fits when the car is in the air and the suspension is a full extension there should be plenty of flex when the car is on the ground.

Sorry, I don't have a measurement of the length for you or access to the car at the moment to measure it. However, after looking at my invoice I can confirm that my kit had the same part number as yours. I remember that the rears were longer than the fronts.

My pic was taken with the car on stands therefore the suspension was completely unloaded and at its maximum distance of travel. As you can see there is still some slack.

How do they compare in length with the standard hoses that you've taken off? If the standard hoses are longer, I would say there is a chance the wrong length rears were put in the kit.

Hi all, I may have got to the bottom of this. The godridge parts are 20mm shorter than the OE parts, I checked with design 911 where I bought the parts from.Gave them the part number of the kit and they measured the rear pipes in a fresh kit, guess what, their kit had parts that were 20mm longer ie matching the OE parts.
They are now sending me the longer parts. The hoses should not be at full stretch with the suspension on its maximum travel, this is dangerous.

Looks like I guessed right! [:D]

Good to hear that D911 went and measured them for you and are rectifying the problem.

BTW did you get the PCGB discount from them when you ordered them? [;)]
