What a day Friday was! The main display was amazing...

I think the GT was in the Porsche Tent (if it was there) and there was a que a mile long to get in... so I went to take pics instead!

Gavin,
Wouldn' t this thread be better placed in the General forum?
You might be restricting readership a bit, and denying a wider viewing of the lovely piccies.

The café was the only place I could think it could have been? There was a tent at the back, but as I say I never got in... pure speculation.

re: the pics, thought I would leave them here in the ' 912 Haven of unmoderation' [;)]

I saw the Carrera GT being driven up the hill in anger by Walter Rohl, it was part of the supercar collection that was close to the Cartier Style et Luxe. My opinion, it looks great in the pictures, but so much better in the flesh

In the same run there were
Jay Kays black enzo
Another yellow Enzo
Koennigsegg
Noble M12
' big Lotus thingy'
Spyker
New Bentley Continetal
Corvette
GT3

Interestingly the GT and the GT3 were the only cars really being pushed, the rest seemed content just to drive slowly and admire the masses admiring them.

Perhaps they were afraid they might break down!

We saw the afternoon Supercar run from the start line. The Aston Martin got a huge cheer for producing the biggest burn out of the day.

The Carrrera GT squeaked slightly, hunkered down and dissapeared into the distance. It made the rest look very pedestrian off the line.

Great shot from a Forum friend JM... you can see the rest of John' s images at

' big Lotus thingy'

One of he Type 115 Lotus GT1 racecars developed for the 1997 GT Series.
Originally intended to have a derivative of the Esprit V8 rule changes meant it was eventually equipped with the Lotus designed 6 litre Corvette engine. Further rule changes, meant the project was abandoned by Lotus and the cars continued to be used by the company that originally comissioned them.
They were based on the Elise chassis and designed and built by Lotus.
There was also one road going version developed, although I don' t know whther it was this one at Goodwood.

Yes it has to be - the one at Goodwood was road registered.
For those that may not know, the teams with GT1' s in the FIA series of the time were required to have one example of a road registered car present at each round of the championship that they entered.

Mark,
The original registration was P498 PPW which was the one off car built to meet the series requirement and was eventiually sold off at auction.

All from John Tiplers book " Lotus Elise, The Complete Story"

By his account it is not a relaxing drive, but it did look the business!
