Got a strange leak!

I noticed tonight that there was a pool of liquid under the front near side of my 997 turbo in an underground car park. Moving the car I could see probably a litre maybe on the floor. I reckon it might be brake fluid.

The pedal seemed much much softer than usual but there were no warning lights that have come on. Could that be the case. Does it have split circuits so that some braking would still be operative?

Its under warranty so I will drop by the dealer in the morning but has anyone experienced this before?

Thanks

Soft pedal is a strong indication but no steering pull? Brake fluid has a very distinct smell - check the level in the reservoir: it should be around a marked level (open the top to learn the smell).

You will undoubtedly have a level of split circuitry (even my 1970 VW Beetle had that!) if not complete split but this only buys you limited braking before the overall performance is far from satisfactory and the current weather adds to the risk. If the reservoir level is down I would personally call out Porsche Assistance to take a quick look - worst case they can tow it to the garage for repair.

Alternative items could be coolant, windscreen washer.

Sounds more likely to be coolant (if its coloured) as 1 litre loss of brake fluid would be pretty catastrophic to the brake pedal feel. Could just be condensate from the air con condensors dependent upon the temperature in the garage.

Thanks for feedback, yes one of the radiators has sprung a leak so its at the OPC for a new one. Interesting that I then had a call to say they were testing the car and have discovered that the turbo(s) is faulty and that a new one is being brought in from Germany as part of a recall. Its got some shafts or something (you can tell I am technical) that have seized and it wasnt running full boost. Anyway its away now for about 10 days whilst parts arrive and it gets sorted out. I am just awaiting the arrival of a replacement car now I am back from work.

Nice Orange GT3RS in Hatfield today, £89k with 15k miles on it, looked stunning/new they prep the cars so well there and a silver turbo one year old with 2k on it for £79k. Seems odd/frustrating when sitting near it is a brand new turbo, less spec than mine £105k. So message is buy this new car and in 12 months with only 2k miles on it you will loose £26-30k nearly at the moment.

Dealer said facelift turbo out by back end of the year (not sure if he is right though)
