Got Boxster - got questions!!

Hello to the Boxster forum. [:D]Have bought 3.2s tip 01Y and have some questions. Like do you want a fab 968CS - it's in the for sale bit[&o]. Yes it's open to offer's. Polite ones.[]

I have all the books except I don't have a manual for the CR22 stereo/cass in the car or for the CD in the front. It's a 6 disc Porsche job and I think the car has a sound package- how do I tell?
Also the CD player is all connected re 1 white & red cable connector & one bigger, I presume, power connector, but I can't get the magazine out of the CD player. When I press the stereo to go to CD it just say's "magazine".[]
Is there a trick to switching power to the CD or has it popped an in-line fuse somewhere? It's not making any noise at all like electric motors/gears whirring etc - you know what I mean!![&:]

Where are the horns? One of them is u/s so just want to see if its cable.

The cars mats have gone so any suggestions on replacements? OPC stuff or fancy Autostyle ?

Anybody found the best hood cleaner to use ? Also the best after clean treatment/reproofer ?

Can you see the spoiler when it comes up? I may allegedly have got to that speed today[8|] and could not see it. It works on the switch OK.

Anybody got a Lapis Blue hardtop they want to shift ?[:)]

Any answers will be gratefully received
Cheers
DPH

Welcome to Boxsterdom David

Ooo so many questions.....

if you've got the sound package then there should be an amp alongside the CD changer in the front luggage area and speakers in the door panels.

can't help much on the CD magazine i'm afraid - the red and white cables are signal and the other plug power as you suggest - can you check with a meter whether there is power at the plug ?. Might be worth disconnecting and reconnecting all the cables thou - this used to work on my BMW one. Fuses are behind the panel in the drivers footwell (where the spoiler switch is)

Horns are behind the front bumper just off to the drivers side. You might be able to see the cables to the units if you take out the drivers side front air vent. Otherwise its a bumper off job. whilst you have the bumper off clear all leaves and debris from around the rads - you'll be surprised how much will be in there.

Mats - try one of the Porsche specialists, like Zentrum in Nottingham (Mike has moved recently so the number may have changed). Autostyle are pretty good, but are a bit Max Power nowadays. Plenty of other specialists sell the Porsche mats tho.

Hood cleaner - Renovo do a rejuvenation kit. If the roof just needs a good clean then ordinary car shampoo will sufice - do not be tempted to scrub at the hood though - plenty of water and a sponge are the way to go. You will need to reproof after, Fabsil or Scotchguard are about the best (available from the camping shops). Autoglym do a clean and reproof kit, which is OK but doesn't last as a long as others. The hood must be thoroughly dry before reproofing, so its not something to undertake until mid Spring. Several light coats are better than one liberal application of proofer too.

Spoiler - i can't see mine, but i know when its activated (slight change in wind noise and the back end feels different - maybe i'm just imagining it [;)] )

Hardtop - eBay seem to be the best prices - Lapis ones do appear failrly regularly.

Good luck - get out and enjoy it [;)][;)][;)][;)]

Regards to Di too.

HELLO...FIRST TIME ON SITE! THIS MAY BE A SILLY QUESTION. THE REAR NEARSIDE FOG-LIGHT ON MY BOXSTER DOES NOT LIGHT UP,EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A BULB ECT THERE. IS THIS NORMAL OR IS THERE A FAULT? EVERYTHING ELSE WORKS!
