Hi all you 996'ers, Well a big thanks to everyone for their advice and comments recently. I've just bought a 2002 "facelift" C2 in Basalt Black with black interior. Really nice to drive and sounds great with the sports exhaust!!! Will be going to the Xmas do at Cornbury on Sunday so maybe meet some of you there?

Cheers again

Hi all you 996 fans. I agree with you the 996 is a great car.Much more refined than the 993. the road holding and cornering is excellent, cant believe its only 2 wd. nearly as good as my Rouse-Sport Cosworth 304R.... Dave C2 Aero Kit .black grey int. man

Hi Ian,

Welcome to the mad house[8D]

Post some pictures then, and keep us updated on how you get on. Keep the PSM on and take it easy for the first few months.Although you're probably going to tell me that you're an ex rally driver[:'(]

The main things to remember is that the engine is at the rear and the shopping goes at the front. Don't get it muddled up like i did once.[]

You can't get a girl in the back seat. As i recently found out.[]

It's really not good in a muddy field on sports day. Laughing stock of the whole school, i was.[:(]

See ya

Sounds a nice car well done.

Si saying about the engine in the back boot at front, very true, i parked ourside a pub in the summer opened the boot and some bloke shouted broken down has it mate, when i informed on how it is on a 911 he felt very silly in front of his girlfriend, you will find that you will get plenty of jealous comments.

And you can get a girl in the back but she can not be taller then 5ft 2 and the passenger in the front then has to sit on the dashboard.

Enjoy your new car, and welcome to the Forum

Phil

What! Has Porsche played about with the interior as well? I can get Gran in the back with the Boss in the front without complaint - can't say fairer than that.
Flog the 996 and get the essence.

I can get the dog in the front, two cats in the back (who also do my oil changes) and three girls on the roof. Start listening to At The Drive-In. It may help you.

Just thought id reply to this as ive had my first porsche for a year now.....
Before the porsche id had a Lotus exige, this was a great fun car, but the novelty wore off after about 6 months.
I then upgraded to a Black1999 996 C2 and as you would imagine, I have had a permanent smile on my face from the day I bought the car, especially during a 2000mile round trip to italy in the summer.
Unlike with the lotus and other cars ive had, I can see myself keeping this car for a very long time and if I do upgrade it will be to another of stuttgart's finest
Cheers
Paul

Been loving my 996C4S for 2 months today! After two boxsters and then the dark times of two E46 M3s (great car, lots of space, just a little dull at times) I'm back in the Porsche stable. It's good to be back! I also managed to get my mother-in-law in the back - she swears she was fine but looked a little cramped!
