Hi folks. My 99 boxsters steering judders when in reverse and on full or almost full lock. Is this natural, Ive not experienced it before. The car has had a full suspension rebuild over the last year or so. P zeros all round.
thanks in anticipatio.

Pretty normal in my opinion.. loads about this all over forums.. worse on full lock when reversing.

I wouldn't worry, seems they all do it

It can also be worse when it’s cold outside as the summer tyres will be harder and the tread may judder and skip more also.

A favourite forum topic here and elsewhere at this time of the year when temperatures head downwards Gary. Low temperatures (low friction surfaces)/wide wheels/steering geometry cause the front wheels to skip across the tarmac producing the annoying juddering when reversing you mention.

Nothing to worry about.

Jeff

All normal stuff for many modern cars, huge geometry changes on full lock and conditions Lead to this judder.
my BMW Z4 did the same.
Nothing to worry about.[:)]

It is caused by the Ackermann steering geometry set-up of your vehicle. Nothing to worry about and perfectly normal.
