Government will be forced to implement new laws for cleaner air

I just saw this article on a court case that ministers lost today https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2016/nov/02/high-court-rules-uk-government-plans-to-tackle-air-pollution-are-illegal , I wonder if this could effect classic cars, it will most certainly affect diesel cars. London had already planned to ban diesel's by 2020 by I suspect that this will be brought forward now and rapidly, and it won't just affect London either. So for anyone thinking of buying a new diesel, perhaps think again, as for us classic car owners, I fear things may get a lot more expensive or worse.....

Well lets hope the Federation (or whatever) will speak up for us. You would think that classic cars don't do enough mileage to have a significant effect, surely? The real culprits are probably bangers still in regular use....and the many witless traffic schemes that just cause queues in which cars are unnecessarily kept much longer in urban zones. In Oxfordshire we have suffered badly from this: simple fact is that traffic lights cause queues! After years of ill considered traffic management, our local town is choked with traffic for most of the day, and the acrid stench of pollution catches your throat.

Meanwhile, we've just changed our daily driver: beloved SAAB 9-5 diesel is gone (old technology), replaced by BMW 218i Petrol (new technology)....same mpg, same torque, more power. But it's not a SAAB......
