Got up Saturday morning and drove the 944 from Solihull to Abergavenny experiencing alot of motorway followed by Welsh country side, covering 240 miles over the weekend.I really enjoyed all the different driving of my 944 (roof off and all!) I just think these cars are fantastic and would like to hear anybody elses enjoyable 944 experiences[:)]

Beaky makes me smile every time I sit behind the steering wheel but as for exceptional enjoyment:-

2005 944 Scottish Tour - 2000 miles in a week, great roads and great company. Great weather (mostly), excellent accommodation and a really great bunch of people to go driving with.

R11 WOTY 2006 had some excellent roads to enjoy in France and great company to enjoy it with, as did this years R20 French trip.

This years PCGB Donnington Track Day - while the boost pipe stayed on.

Gaydon back to Cornbury at this years Cotswold Rally. Good roads, good weather and a group of like minded individuals looking to make discrete progress.

June 2005, not long after I bought mine - driving through France, Eastern end of the Loire Valley, through the Auvergne and on to friends south of Bordeaux. Brilliant empty roads, and the car never missed a beat. 1500 miles in a week.

Plus a day on the track at Goodwood!

I think the best on-road experiences have to be my trips to Le Mans with Tony F (either in his car or mine depending on the year). Having a co-pilot in the left seat telling me when its safe to accelerate on the wrong side of the road is always great fun when you are making discrete progress. Being in the company of many other sportscars all heading to the same motoring mecca whilst being applauded by locals in the villages is very humbling and special in my memory.

The best road trip I had with my S2 was driving from Valence to Le Mans, one summer day. Beautiful and varied landscapes with surreal weather, from extremely hot under a hard-shining sun to violent storms under black skies. All in about 10 hours.
Driving in one day in much different environments (sun to rain, B-roads to motorway) certainly adds pleasure & satisfaction as it always makes me realise the great versatility of these cars.

Lapping Summit Point Raceway in an original 944 Turbo Cup (from the Rothmans Canadian series) in West Virgina. Brilliant fun.

Karl.

Some great mental pictures there guys. Love it.
I guess mine was the first time I saw my car in the flesh. Having done all the leadup work online or over the phone, I flew from Sydney to Adelaide on a Saturday morning with Bankcheque in hand. Met the owner at the airport looked the car over, basically knowing that I was going to buy it, gave her the chq. and proceded to take it for a fairly long test drive...home. It was just under 1500kilometers across some loooonnnnnngggggggg flat roads at times. Reached 240kmh with ease and thought what an amazing car I had bought. Apart from dodging a Wombat at 200 kmh that had decided to have a sleep in the middle of the road at 3.00am, there were no problems. Had a break from 7.00pm to 2.00am and got home at 8.00am Sunday morning. Good test drive.
Still I'd love to do the drive to LeMans or the 'Ring. Sounds fantastic.

On the R24 WOTY to Holland last year decided to forgo the scenic route with the others and drove to Ostend for a nice lunch as I`ve been there many times and love the place (if you`ve never been Ostend is lovely with 100`s of places to eat)

Had a very long (alcohol free) lunch with the wife and Richard and a friend in his Carrera 4S and then realised we had got the time wrong and we would struggle to make the ferry.

To say we were flying was an understatement but hours of high speed fantastic quality motorway in bright sunshine (nearly running out of fuel, other French Porkers, Maseratis and BMW`s trying to stay with us etc) was a fabulous experience. The 951 didnt miss a beat and it was all Richard could do to stay with it (he told me later).

They are one of the ultimate long distance cruisers IMO. Needless to say we got to the ferry just as the cars were boarding and I got out as fresh as a daisy.
