Thought i'd just do a quick post to say Hi.

After about 6 months of looking/driving/testing all the various porsche cars i've settled on a 964, just need to find a good one now! (The fun begins)

Budget is about £13k but hoping that'll be enough?!

Car will be a third car as have company & family car so it'll will be treated well [:)]

Andrew.

Andrew,

A good choice certainly, but I can't help feeling your budget might limit your choices to the poorer end of the 964 market. Without doubt, there ARE cars around at that sort of price (and less!) but I would wonder what sort of money needs to be spent on them to get them into decent order. There are some reasonably low mileage late cars around but tend to be more like £16K - and you may finish up paying that sort of money for a cheapie at the end of the day.

Good luck with the search anyway!!

Regards

Dave

Thanks,

Appreciate the budget is tight, but it's going up about £500 a month so I'm guessing it'll take a few months so maybe up to £15k by then (i've kept back around an additional £3.5k for "work" that'll no doubt be required which could be used IF 100% solid)

As someone who bought using the same sort of budget I can say that it is perfectly feasible. I too didn't want to blow all my cash and have something in reserve. I then set about getting something attended to each month so spread the pain over the year.

I spent over £3,000 fixing it up in the first year. Some of that was essential like brakes, tyres and a service but some of it was cosmetic like a new steering wheel, new rear light and clear indicators. A fellow 964 owner near me bought a car I was pondering about buying. It cost him £4,000 more than I paid and he has spent more on fixing it up than I have (including some VERY necessary repairs). So spending more on the initial purchase is not necessarily a guarantee that the car will not present you with some shocking bills in the first year.

Good luck with the search [:)]
