Grrr! I bet I'm not the first one to do this!

Suns out... washing away and... snap! Caught the tail of the "B" in the "Boxster" badge on the boot lid! How can the breakage of such a silly bit of plastic engender such a sinking feeling? []

Anyway, I'm getting over it and trying not to look as my car is now just a teeny bit less than perfect. [:(]

So, question... do I have to buy a new badge from my local dealer? Or can I get the same thing on line at a fraction of the price? Less than £20 would be a joy!

Also, how best can the remains of the old one be removed? I shudder at the thought of taking a scalpal to it! [8|]

This one any good?

Ha! Spoilt for choice! Philip, thanks for doing the e-bay research for me. I've just had a look myself and unfortunately, there don't appear to be any silver ones. The Graphite would go nice on my car but I'd need an 'S' as well so it would cost more for the sake of changing it.

I've followed up Mark's suggestion re doing a forum search on "badge remove". That was a great help. Thanks Mark. It also got me the links for 'Porscheshop' and 'Eurocarparts'. They both have what I want at reasonable prices. As for nameyourporsche.com, well... umm... think i'll pass on that one. [;)]

Guess the above sticker from highgatehouse are the permanent solution as the badge will snap again. I have de-badged mine (similar incidence), now, no worries about dirt or wax collecting on the edges or re-snapping and I get so many people ask what car it is and at traffic lights more tailgaters moving about in the seat trying to find out what the car in the front is and yes, to the non-enthusiast and non-trump card collecting kids all modern Porsches look alike [;)]... it's usually, "Wow, a Porsche" unless it is a Cayenne or a Carrera GT.

Badge Colours:
Black is the standard one that came with the 2.5?/2.7 Boxsters
Titanium (some see it as silver or grey) was launched with and for the Boxster S (as the front screen surround, etc are titanium colour too)
Chrome was for the MY2004 special 550 edition

Best way I found for removal:
microfibre or terry towel from a bucket of fairly warm water left on the badge followed by a slow slice off with dental floss...

Did the same and my OPC debadged the car FOC, its a perfect job, and IMHO looks better deleted. My 944 also has the delete option and also looks better.

Dbadged mine about 2 weeks after collecting it[:)]

A word of warning for those who are thinking of debadging and who have "older" cars.
The paint may well have sun-faded (on the car as a whole), and removing the badge can result in the Boxster logo being quite visible in the original un-faded colour.
I have seen it on a couple of cars.

This may actually be a nice idea - quite subtle at least [;)]

Well I'm not best pleased with all this de-badging. []

It's depreciating the value of my no-cost option! [;)]

I did mine the second day I had it with a sponge! I think they are only about a tenna at an OPC. I masked around the old one befor I took it off so that I knew where to position the new one. I heated the old badge very slightly with a hairdryer to the glue melted a bit.

I am very carefull now!
