GT Course

Did the GT Course at the Driver Experience centre yesterday.

To anyone who hasn't already done this one, I can STRONGLY recommend it [:)][:)]

You get 90 minutes driving time with 1:1 tuition (split between GT2 and GT3...although my mate managed to get into the GT3RS also...but I didn't [:(] ). You can tailor the day to your personal requirements choosing which parts of the course you would like to focus on (i.e. handling circuit, low friction, kick-plate or ice-hill...although ice-hill is still out of action). We concentrated on the handling circuit with some time also spent on the low-friction. The instructors are FANTASTIC and by the end of the session, we were both lapping much more smoothly and MUCH FASTER than at the start [:)]

Another take away for me was, the difference between GT2 and GT3 to my car...... I won't go into this one too much as I know everyone has their favorites and we all have our cars to fulfill different roles. However, what I will say is my next car is definately going to be a GenII GT3 ! The handling....the noise....the overall sensation of driving it.....I'm smitten !!

Here are some piccies from the day,

45 minutes driving this...

Then 45 minutes in my next car !!...

And when the rear tyres melted on the GT2...some lucky person got time in this...

We are sooooo lucky to have this facility in the UK, it is just brilliant !

Looking forward to YouDrive now on 21st May....can't wait !

I done the GT course last year,BRILLIANT.I must admit I found the GT2 to be the best of the day.
the only thing lacking was the true sound of a Porsche.
Highly recommended

Was it driving the GT2 that resulted in arrival of your new car ??

I think it will end up being an expensive day for me ultimately as I now have the same desire for the GT3 that I had after first driving a Turbo.

I too thought the GT2 was just incredible but preffered the 3 in the end because of the seemingly total lack of understeer, the race car sound track and the fact I would probably shorten my life expectancy with the 2....OMG Its a beasty ;-)

Actually no,it was the Yorkshire drive which made our minds up about the turbo
Every time we came around a bend thinking we had caught up you guys were on the next hill
Tanya wants to know how far is Alice's grave from where we are staying.
Looking forward to seeing you guys,
Oh another thing is Dave on the drive Saturday

Hiya Paul,

The drive on May 7th is around North York Moors area which is almost 100 miles from here so unfortunately is no-where near the church. Assuming there is a "Yorkshire Dales" run later in the year I will forward you more details via E-Mail.

I did ask David if he would like to join us but unfortunately he is busy on that day and hence sends his apologies.

Looking forward to seeing you all on the 7th !

Thankyou doug,I am sure Tanya and I can sort a little drive later this year, before the summers out.
must notify my insurance company before then, seem to be clocking up the miles lately.

I had 3hrs on the handling circuit last week in the black gt3 with ceramics with Mark Burkinshaw as my instructor who was very helpful with suggestions to improve my skill set! Everything from position of right foot relative to the throttle up to trail breaking was covered although the only issue continues to be heeling and toeing. My homework is to try rolling the foot vs rotating and using heel in a quiet and controlled environment without making it an issue for fellow road users.
The kick plate was cracked even with the traction controls off at 25mph once I appreciated the benefit of looking down the direction of travel at the Michelin man in the distance so that your peripheral vision picks up the spin much earlier.
Even managed to do do-nuts on the low friction surface!
All in all an excellent session! Lunch was good as well!
