GT Purely Porsche magazine.

Some of you may have read my posts here about my correspondence with 911 & Porsche World's editor, Steve Bennett, about featuring more front engined cars in the pages of his magazine.

I sent a similar email to GT Purely Porsche magazine and that email has been copied in the August magazine as "Letter of the Month".

Again the response I have had is that the drivers of 924, 928, 944 and 968 cars should contact the magazines with their details and their cars may well be featured if there's a story there. Can you Register Secretaries suggest to your drivers to step forward and contact the magazines ?

Please can we show those 911 and Boxster drivers that there are other Porsches on the roads that are true Porsches that deserve recognition.

Let's get more of our cars featured in the magazines.

I know when I last spoke to the magazines, GTPP said they would love to do some articles on 944's especially tuned ones... 911&PWorld were also up for it.. Total911 were not keen (something to do with the mag's name) and Playboy said "No you cant assist the photographers"

Total 911, I think the clue is in the name [:D]

Maybe we should start our own mag entitled "Totallyanyporschewiththeengineinthefront"!

Seriously though, I haven't bought GTpurleyPorsche(or GT purely911 as it known in my house) for a long time now because it doesn't seem to cater to us, IMO.

At least 911/Porsche world doesn't lie with it's title(mostly 911's along with other porsches) & I think they feature us quite a bit.

When I owned a classic mini, the mags were full of how to's, such as panel/interior fitting,engine/gearbox swaps etc. They explain things on a DIY level.I find reading about Weber carbs & how they work interesting.
Porsche mags could run DIY articles for early cars (pre 95,) as a lot of enthusiasts run their cars on a budget

porsche mags now seem like glossy brochures to me with their arty photos.
Porsche mags also seem to assume you have buckets of money

Who needs a Porsche mag with a great forum like this!

Minor rant over

If the magazines regularly run articles about 924/944/968 cars then maybe newcomers buying them or just reading them in the newsagent will read them, want a car like ours and then come to these forums. The forums are used by the converted, the unconverted start with the magazines.

There will be people at Blenheim this weekend from 911 & Porsche World and GT Purely Porsche, if you have a front engined car that is something special let them know, if you drive a front engined car go up to them and tell them you think 924/928/944/968 are fantastic and you want to see more in the magazines about them.

It's down to us drivers to promote our cars, we love them, please shout about them !

I'm quite happy to make things happen with the magazines to get them featuring our cars if drivers don't have the time or inclination to get things started.
Just get in touch with me and I'll start things.

One of the things both 911 & Porsche World and GT Purely Porsche want is to feature front engined cars in the "Your Cars" section.

What they need are people to write up to 800 words a month plus photos about their month's motoring, racing or rebuild and to be able to write these monthly features for at least six months, ideally a lot longer.

So if you want to share your experiences with their readers about your 924,928, 944 or 968 please contact them.

If it has the badge they are all true Porsches to me!

I spoke to Richard Middleton on the GTPP stand at Blenheim and he said that they had some responses to the letter vappearing in the mag and they are about to run an article on a 944 turbo.

Lets try and get features on a regular basis.
