GT Racing at Silverstone

Last year I organised at R10 trip to Silverstone to watch the European Le Mans Series 1000Km race. The weather was excellent and we saw some good close racing - though the Audi Le Mans cars ruled the roost somewhat!

Looking at the calendar this year, there is a round of the FIA GT Championship running on 15 May and the LMES 1000Km is on Saturday 13 August , followed by the British GT championship on the Sunday (the weekend sandwiched between our Intermarque Gathering at Pulloxhill and the Regional Concours). This season the Porsches face challenge from Ferrari and the new Aston Martin DB9 (and the odd American motor!) - should make good racing.

We (me, Kim and Joel) might be able to make the August race, but a diary conflict prevents us from going to the May one. So is anyone interested in volunteering to lead a R10 run to either of these races this year? I suggest using the OPC in Towcester as a meeting point (contact them first!). It is probably too late to arrange special parking for the May race, but if someone was interested in the August event a call to the organisers might secure us a parking area in the infield.

Contact me if you need more details.

Mike,

Important point:
The ELMS race is on Saturday, it finishes in the dark...

British GT's are running on Sunday.

There is a ticket offer and details here:

Note the free ticket for F3/British GT later in the year!

Oh,

And we booked our hotel a few weeks ago for the weekend.
If anyone else is coming from further a-field and wants to make a weekend of it, then can I suggest getting going with accomodation. We are further away than we usually might have expected...

Mark, thanks - I have amended my posting accordingly.
