GT2 .........

Guys, technical question.

What is the GT2 based on ? the narrow body RS shell or the wide body turbo ?

Thanks

Loosely speaking its a 993 tt shell seam welded with chunks cut out of all 4 wings and spats rivetted on.....................technically there s some double sided tape holding the spats on and the welded in cages [ex fac] make it VERY rigid to keep all 4 corners down! Only a fixed number of GENUINE SHELLS were ever made inc LHD /RHD and the race cars also including the 21 EVO s in '98.............hence rareity

If you are refering to the 997GT2 then it uses the wide body shell, as does the current RS.
I think he meant the vastly superior and now cult status 993 GT2.

I am trying to decide whether it has achieved cult status because Vic drives one or inspite of it!![;)]

Coincidentally............Hilarious thread on P/ heads, someone believed he found 9 currently for sale ...........the fun is spot the genuine ones out of the nine !
There were 2 nice real ones at The ace on Saturday!

Hi Vic

I saw the met blue car - very nice indeed. Which was the other? There was an orange car there but it had "carbon fibre look" stickers on the roll bar in an effort to make it look more racy than it actually was ..... some people [:D]

Think the 996GT3/RS has these........when you going to get a proper Porsche Tispkj.....? You are obviously aware that the air-cooled 993GT2 is the boll***s, superior to the 996 Version[:D]

I never said otherwise Des, the 993 is the best shape ever and the GT2 just perfect, it's the older stuff I have a problem with [:D]

GT2 ? .......... one day Des

So why did you buy a rear boiler? Surely for the same money at the time you could have got a reasonable 993RS.......?

How weird I made the same witty remark re the Halfords stick on roll cage on the PHeads thread.

Great black 964RS owners think alike....even when they become ex-ones[;)]

Is this the same for this...? http://www.gmundcars.com/cars/600/993gt2rracecar.html

Shud be ............not a car i ve ever seen before , Evo 'race' front , cup car cage [R], Rear engine cover should run carbon plates for wing ,to balance front spoiler.........u need the chasssis number and build number from back 'parcel shelf' to know more abt its origins ............all well known owners not hard to find out /verify

Vic, have a look at the previous owners in the ad,,,I bet you have seen it.....wouldn't be hard to trace and with that provenence I would expect the shell to from the factory...What is the total number of cars/ shells? 172 rings a bell ?

Only with the steering wheel on the wrong side mate [;)]

So if money no object you would prefer a RHD 993RS to your GT3? Are you now coming out of the closet Paul[;)] The older cars you refer to are not far off their worthy successor but probably a bit too hard for you.....[:)]

Guys there is only one gt2,which starts with 993.Is there any others about!!
Cult is the word simon
But also carrera gt springs to mind

gmund car is ex factory build gt2 racer, with a poorly fitted front end now.
The car has some race history, but not much.I would say the history has some poetic licence to it.
I turned the car down for some 45k about 18 months ago.
The engine & box need a rebuild, unless its been lately.
