GT3 Engine in a Boxster?

Anyone know if its possible to put the 3.8 litre 911GT3 engine in a Boxster/ Cayman. What's involved?

The Ruf conversion uses the 997 3.8 L engine and not the 3.6 GT3 unit. The GT3 unit will not fit as the gearbox is completely different as a result of the engine being derived from the earlier 993 model. As such it will only fit in a 911 where the gearbox and engine hangs out over the back axle. As to tuning for the 987/ boxster/ cayman , there are many options of engine swaps ranging from 3.4 , 3.6 (997 Carrera), and 3.8 in both standard and powerkit forms. The stock 3.2 can also be super/ turbo charged .

A 3.6L goes in a 2001 model S. But we had to use a lower engine mounting to accomodated the larger manifolds on the top of the 3.6L engine. The real fun and games start when you have to configure a different ECU to your cars electronics. Lot's and lot's of reprogramming and remapping, but it can be done...........eventually !!

Certainly is . First one I 'd seen in the flesh. Second one I saw, was just a couple of weeks ago , racing at Donnington Park in the big historic meet. The same car that appears on the flyer for the up and coming meet at Silverstone. Fantastic to see and was giving a very good account for himself to boot !
