991 GT3 worth the wait....

Just seen pictures of a white one on Facebook and it looks absolutely fantastic.
I wonder how much it'll be?

Start saving [:)]

Gary ... is that speculation or is that official?

Launch price in Germany is 137,303 Euros inc VAT. A guestimate based on the cost differential for a Carrera S in Germany and the UK is ÂŁ107k. If it's ÂŁ100k, we're probably looking at ÂŁ110k for an optioned car which isn't too bad.

Edited to add:

ÂŁ100,540

997 GT3 gen2 Guards Red
Cayenne Diesel gen2 Basalt Black
991 GT3 worth the wait....? [:D]

Wow amazing he Porsche keeps moving the bar, I wonder what the RS version will be like, certainly 500bhp and lighter, so guesss 200mph is there and close to 3sec 0-60 , price going to be ÂŁ130k plus . Makes me realise my RS was the last manual version.

Great minds and all that Sunil- will be even closer when I change to red! OPC want me to top up my deposit, so I'm getting quite excited!

991 GT3..... soon to be spec'd[:D]

Good to know the factory still likes red too!

Stunning looking version though - I'll leave others more knowledgeable to pick over the technical details

Go on, Peter, you know you want to!

Regards,

Clive.

It's just a souped up 2S isn't it? Same engine with a few upgrades, same gearbox, ditto, bit fatter and heavier.

Pure jealousy of course [:D][:D]

Yeh, but that 4 wheel steer should be a big help at your sort of speeds! [:D]

Only joking - honest! [;)]

Aye! [;)]

My deposit and spec have been submitted to my OPC and already registered with Porsche. I was doing Guards Red again but have now spec'd black because I'm planning to keep my 997.2; there's still plenty of time to change my mind again and again and again ....

The 991 can be the daily driver and the 997 can be for special occasions .... just kidding! [:D]

On another note, I'm a little disappointed that it still only has a 65l tank whereas LHD has 90l as standard.

2-seater 991 GT3 is 50 kg heavier than the 4-seater 991 Carrera.

I have prepared a table with 991 GT3 comparison to 991 S WLS, 997 GT3 RS 4.0 and 997 GT3 3.8:

I guess it just goes to show that even the convention to adhere to (i.e. lighter is better), changes. And it sounds bonkers at first that it's heavier. Interesting times.

If compared to the 3.8 Carrera S with PDK, it's 35Kg heavier. But you could flip it on it's head and say that the Carrera S is void of 'x' Kg of 'go-faster' components. I guess it's a new direction for Porsche and there's a heavy car that goes well, I won't mention it's name, that might've influenced Porsche to think in a new way. In parallel with reducing weight, I guess there are components that disproportionately increase the performance, compared to the weight they add. Also if you have the horsepower and chassis to help neutralise the extra weight then the extra components benefit the car. Conversely, the more stiffly sprung GT3 means that PDCC won't benefit the car, so it's not an option, like on the Carrera. The rear wheel steering will be a key contributor to the weight as it weighs nearly 6Kg and needs a bigger battery to drive it, so adds 15Kg in total. The GT3 PDK is 30Kg heavier than the old manual, but the Carrera PDK is 20Kg heavier than it's manual.

So now I'm confused by James's first line. The Porsche.com site has the following;
C2S 1415kg
C4S 1465kg
Gt3 1430kg
All with pdk.
If the rear steering adds 15kg but the 4wd system is deleted and the wider body adds a bit, then these figures make sense to me.

I assumed James was referring to the 1,380 kg 3.4 Carrera manual, which with a smaller engine and no PDK, has additional weight advantage but isn't the closest comparison.

Plus you make a good point about the wide body vs narrow body.
